2001 bombardier ds 650 engine overheat

I need help in finding out wat went wrong with my ds650. when the red light that indicates that the oil temperature/engine overheat went on when i was riding, and i turned it off right away. though, i didnt feel like pushing it back home, so i fired it up and got it back home, but then i hear a clicking sound in my engine and i knew it wasnt the valves clickin. and now, everytime i accelerate it, it has a weird sound and i know the sound of my bike because Ive had it for 2 yrs now. so if anyone could help me out with this problemi got with my bike, then could u please give me a hand here.

Was the fan going on at all? What kind of sound is it when you accelerate?
