I just purchased this wheeler for cheap. When I got it home it started hard, and when I did get it started it would rev very high in neutral after warming up for a minute also it would do this in gear. It would rev back down when put back into neutral. After shutting the machine down and letting it sit for about an hr it started hard again and when it did finally start it rev right up so I shut it down. Now I can not get it to even start at all after sitting for a day. It did back fire twice yesterday but that was it. I am getting spark and gas choke cable is broke and I notice the air filter is not in. so where do I start. Put a new plug in and that is about it...carb looks really clean...also how do I remove the choke cable and throttle cable from the carb...new to all this atv stuff but good with a wrench and hope to be able to do all this myself...thanks guys

Welcome to QUADCRAZY!

1. Get that choke working, replace the cable if needed.

2. Secure/Replace that air filter

3. Replace the spark plug

I think the issue is mostly that your choke is not woking and you've got an incorrect air/fuel ration at different engine temperatures. The plug could easily foul if it has not already.

* Moved thread to Suzuki forum, added manufacturer and issue to thread title.

Do you any history of the quad ? Has it been sittin for a while or ridin from time to time ? I would still tear apart the carb and clean it for starters ! Like Ajmboy said fix the choke cable !!

Got the wheeler running..thanks guys...only one more issue...on the rear brake the stud that rotates to lift the pads isn't turning that much when the brake pedal is pressed...doesn't look like it would lift the pad far enough....how much should it rotate and how do I make adjustments so it does turn enough tolift pads the proper distance?

HI everyone. New to this forum. I have 98 Kawasaki Bayou 400 with an apparent electrical issue. I have the Clymer manual, but I am not exactly sure where to start. The issue started a month ago and the neutral light would go on and off intermittently. Eventually it went completely off , and I thought it was a shifting issue. I took the case off and checked the clutch and all mechanical shifting components are good, so I think I eliminated that. The switch sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Last time I tried, I did hear a clicking sound near where the battery is right before the light went out. Does anyone have any ideas where to start? Hoping this is an easy fix.

Hi All.  I introduced myself some weeks ago with my 2006 LT-F400F that needed a list of repairs including replacing the cracked generator cover.  It is back together as of last night and cranks up, idles and revs high pretty well.  Needs some fine tuning and stop backfiring at stop.
The big issue is it will not go into gear.  I reassembled the insides with help from y’all’s posts.  The transfer selector moves from H-L-R, and the foot shifter moves thru the gears and finds neutral easily enough.  Before I tear it back open, the  transfer selector on top does not move as far as the repair manual says.  The diagram shows the shaft moving something like 40 degrees between L and H and 50+ degrees between L and R but it doesn’t move that far even though it finds the indent areas and moves well.
Could this be the problem.  I aligned all the dots on the shifter gears inside and it appeared to not be binding anywhere.  I do hear the gears touching when I shift like they are trying to engage, but zero movement from the ARV
It was somewhat difficult to tell whether all the parts are installed on each shaft.
Are there better/bigger photos somewhere that would allow me to be confident I included all the washers and bushings, etc?  If I had any doubt on parts that were laying inside after the cover broke then I purchased replacements from online stores.
TIA for any input or feedback!!  Pics are from when I first took the generator cover off.

Hi, I am new to  this forum and I am happy to be here.  I purchased a Yamaha 350 Big Bear without a title and I cannot find a Vin number to find out what year it is.  I am hoping someone here can help me identify this atv. I checked on the main frame near the front A-arm left side found nothing.  I checked up near the radiator and found nothing.  Where else should I look?  See image below.
