89 Warrior w/87 carb

Finally got my 89 Warrior right.

A couple of years ago I rebuilt a 89 Warrior for a motorcycle class I took.

The engine was blown and I got it for $300. Anyway, after rebuilding the engine and putting it all together, I got it running.

But it never ran well. I rebuilt the carb over and over--with new carb kit. The carb was from an 87 Warrior but the carb parts were almost identical. The quad just never ran with power. After talking with many knowledgable people, we sort of figured out it was running lean. But why? Factory jets and 4,500 feet above sea level should be more than enough.

Last year I decided to spend money and took it to the local Yamaha shop. The had for 2 months and had 2 mechanics look at it. They got a flat spot worked out but it still had no power. It cost me only a $150 for many, many hours of labor, tuning and adjustments.

It still had no power.

In December, I called a local shop with a dynometer. They specialized in high-performance tuning, rebuilding and troubleshooting. Street 2 Sand, Reno, Nevada.

After the dyno emissions test, the air/fuel ratio was WAY lean. Over 18 to 1. They replaced the jets over many iterations. Got it going strong and dyno'ed for horse power, too.

Anyway, it now runs pretty good. The idle jet needs to be increased in size to give it a little more power off idle, but otherwise a whole new machine. Thanks STS.

Anyway, I have spare idle jets (at 0.009 inches) and I'll get someone to increase them by a thousands increment on 2 jets.

Thats all.

      Hi everyone.
Let me explain the thread title.
My husband and I are very active in the nudist community, and we have stayed at many and most of the mainstream nudist and clothing optional campgrounds in the USA. We are now approaching our retirement and would like to start a podcast to share those off the road / backwoods / little known camping areas where nudity is allowed. We have purchased a 5th wheel camping trailer with a rear garage for the ATV and now need some good reports on the one to buy.
We are most interested in a side by side unit but would love to get your thoughts.
Feel free to stop by and say Hi and ask anything you would like to better understand what we are looking for in an offroad unit.
Thanks for reading and hope to hear from you.

My friends KQ 300 starts fine and runs, as soon as you put it in gear and try to accelerate its bucks and farts like crazy, not moving... I cleaned carb and it worked good for 1 day... now back to same problem.... could it be such as a bent valve????

Howdy y'all, I'm trying to fix a neighbors 2015 Brute Force 300. Came in with hard to start and won't idle except on choke issue. I pulled the carb and found the pilot jet as well as the emulsion tube partially clogged. Cleaned up everything, put it back together, still having issues...  It will start right up on choke and will also start off choke if you give it just a touch of throttle but it absolutely will not idle unless it's choked just a touch. Also, excuse my ignorance but I'm assuming the "dial" thingy attached to the carb that turns in and out is for setting idle??

Have a 1998 AC 300 2x4, Just installed a new carburetor. Engine starts easy but the choke RPMs are very hi and take along time (5-10 mins when cold out). After engine has warmed up choke releases and it idles and runs fine., It does no have an electric choke. The choke lever is never used and it seems like an auto choke? Long story short, how can I lower the choke rpm levels?

Also, carb came with a spare145 jet, not 100% sure what is installed. Could this impact choke RPMs?

Any help and information greatly appreciated.

If you had to choose one mod that you couldn't live without, or had to recommend one what would it be?
