Buying my girlfriend an ATV, what to get???

I am going to buy my girlfriend a used ATV but don't really know what to get, as she is fairly short. She has no experience what so ever.

I ride a Renegade 800 so she needs something that can "keep up" with that style of ride.

Must be:

4x4 (being stuck is no fun, especially for a new rider)

Belt driven (she is a city girl and the concept of shifting something does not come naturally)

Price range:

$2k - $5K

if you were going utility, stay above 400cc and she will have the option of 2 2 4 select, it is much better than full time 4. the higher cc will also have some speed and torque for the mud. i like the 550 grizzlies or the honda foreman's. both are optioned out for eps too i think. and who ya kidding, keep up to ya LOL ... you know just another renegade will do that ...

Agree i forgot about the grizzy. I recently borrowed a friends 2011 Grizzly 550 eps se. The ride is quite comfortable but a little unstable at speeds 50+ even in 4x4. Its light enough to kick around like a sport quad. It packs some power but i had a hard time keeping up with 750cc and up quads. I will say however that I did beat a honda 4x4 in a legit drag race. Not sure what quad it was besides honda and the first # in the model was a 6. 650, 660??

I found a very nice 500 renegade but its to big for her. Need something with a shorter seat to peg length. I agree something with 450-600cc would be just right.

The seat is wider than i am used to but i ride sport quads. I am able to put my feet flat on the peg / floor area. I would guess you would actually have to try each one out to see which is more comfortable for her

another good 4x4 with a V-twin is or would be the kawasaki brute force 650 with the solid (strate) rear axle ..they have alot of power and do really well in mud and they are really stable for some 1 that dosent have alot of experence riding ..and another would be the V-twin powered kawasaki prairies .. i have owned several of theese ..and currently own and race 1 .. and have had very little if any problems .. they dont have eps but the stearing is fairly easy except durring hard breaking when the weight is shifted to the front wheels .. read up on them in dirtwheels .. they always get great reviews ..and the prairie 650 and 700 were both named atv of the year when they came out ..

specs on 2010 renegade 800 and grizzly 550, grizz is shorter.

can am is 7.17 feet and grizz is 6.78 ...

So right now we're to look at grizzly and brute force. Any thoughts on a wolverine?

ummm, i think you would be better off with the 2 you're going to look at

the wolverine is heave and under porered in my opinion .. i have ridden them and didnt like it .. the brute force would be my choice .. and a good used prairie 650 or 700 would also be something to look for ..especially the 700 they have alot of torque and get up an go (will keep up with the brute force 750's but are more stable ).. and will fit short people pretty well.. my 11 year old son rides my 650 and can reach the floor boards(foot rest) and he is shorter than your girl friend ...
