Congrats. Beyond what you said, check your brakes, examine the frame for bends and dents, make sure all the drive functions work, check CV boots for tears. Check the sticky in this forum for a manual. I will look at specs on this and report if I discover something else.

What engine size is it?

The first manual in OX`s sticky thread is for a 2005. I believe the model covers 2005-2007. Go to chapter 2 and review the periodic maintenance items.

Scan quality is rather low on that file and there are no bookmarks. I bought a manual from the link below. Cheap and you can download right away. They also mail you a disk. Clever marketing ploy too. Claim to be "green" because they don`t use paper. Yet sell stuff you can tear loudly through the woods with and burn all the fossil fuels you want. Brilliant.

Hi there,

I've recently rebuilt a 2005 700 king quad engine that blew a piston due to over heating, or so its what it looks like!! Now the engine is back in and pured like a kitten for the first few start up tests. I called my buddy over who is the owner of the bike so he can give me a hand at getting the rest of the stuff back on and as he was testing it out in the shop and it started this knocking noise out of nowhere in the top end or i think anyways. Ive tried it all taking the head off to inspect, re-timed and re-timed, check the cam chain and cams and cannot figure out what it is. I have a video for whoever can give me idea what the heck it is. Thanks any help would be appreciated. Also it seems to stop knocking when i give it throttle???

Nasty knock. Before I heard it, I was thinking valves but it would be a wicked loose valve to make that noise. It follows the throttle.

Sounds like the timing chain is slapping up against the top of the head cover. When you had the cover off did you notice any wear markings on it? You said you re-timed it. Was it off? Would indicate the chain jumped and could mean a stretched chain or a problem with the tensioning components.

If you have oil up in the valve cams then your oil pressure is good. I`m still thinking timing chain. Is the tension adjuster working properly?

Attached is a snap shot from the manual for troubleshooting engine noise problem.

Tim-anc , thanks for the pic i will use it as reference. I think the tensioner is working i also gave it a few clicks manually with a screw driver to tighten it up a bit more and still makes the noise. I doubt it something with the piston because its all new got the main bearing and con rod bearing checked to make sure while i was rebuilding and the tech said no probs. what is driving me is that it only started that noise after a few start ups it was running then all of a sudden knocking???

Any resolution to this?

Has anyone had a suzuki 230 quad lock the engine up?  Its a well maintained bike, it locked up when my son was riding it. Pulled the plug, it has connected with the piston. I'm thinking the con rod let go.  I don't have a service manual.  Does the engine need to come out to check further?

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

Can anyone provide information on connecting a hitch to a Polaris. Anyone know where they sell small trailers for my quad.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I got up, flipped the Quad back over. I had the wind knocked out of me.
