I got a 2011 king quad 400 asi thats fuel injected (throttle body) when machine is cold it runs great, after riding it for a while it gets extremely sluggish when ur just kinda cruising with a little bit of throttle applied, goin about 8-10mph with just a little bit of throttle it feels and sounds like the engine is struggling or under an extreme load, if u give it more throttle it will pick up and take off and run great, it seams to me i got fuel/air problem but know nothing of how to work on fi atv, i changed and used all grades of gas, changed plugs ( which r black as coal) , if u take aircleaner out it will run better for a little bit then it seems to get worse, it will also backfire when freewheeling or coasting down a hill whether its 1mph or 10mph short of taking it to the garage and raping my wallet i dont know where to go or what i can do do solve the issue if anything, i dont wanna have to spend $300 on a fuel programmer for a machine that should run fine without one, oh forgot to mention the kg is completely stock and only has 660 miles and 140 hrs, can anyone help???

You need to get a read on your ECM first. Call auto or ATV part stores and ask if they have the ability to read. It requires a "dealer tool" which plugs into the ECM connector. You can jumper it but I wouldn`t advise this unless you are an experienced mechanic. I did a quick search to buy one but haven`t seen anything. Here is a basic description of the process.

Has anyone had a suzuki 230 quad lock the engine up?  Its a well maintained bike, it locked up when my son was riding it. Pulled the plug, it has connected with the piston. I'm thinking the con rod let go.  I don't have a service manual.  Does the engine need to come out to check further?

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

I recently read an article about restoring or at least improving the looks of faded and discolored plastic body parts. In the article it suggested using a 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil and paint thinner. You mix it up and apply it with a brush or rag to rub it in and remove the oxidation. I curious to find out if anyone has had experience with doing this and what was their short/long term results of doing so. I would hate to try it and find out that a few weeks/months down the road my plastic body parts self destruct.

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!
