  1. ok so I got this 06 Brute force 750 in the shop came in no start put a new battery in turn key on and 30A fuse pops replace it try again another 30A fuse gone check wiring harness found 4 prong plug brown and black/yellow wires rubbed through and shorting out fixed that issue replace fuse and try again..... 30A fuse pops again play around for a while and found the CDI has shorted out on the 4 prong plug in cdi side . there was a dynatek cdi box in gave customer choice stock cdi for 300 ish or dynatek for 150 ish brought in new dynatek plug in and starts nice iddles for 5 to 10 seconds and dies ... crank it for a bit nothing ... turn key off then turn on and start .. starts up idles for same amount of time then stalls check out and no spark why would it start and stall after 5 seconds and have no spark I'm confused please help
  2. Ok Im new here. I was given a cougar 250 and i put a new carb on it and it will idle great but anything above low rpms spits and sputters. also is this thing suppose to have a fuel pump or just gravity feed from petcock?
  3. Hi, I'm new to the forum but used this site extensively to solve a problem a friend had with his bike so I thought I should at least share a little problem solver I discovered. He bought the bike knowing there was no spark. He replaced the stator and primary coil also known as pulser coil or exciter coil or rotational etc., as well as the CDI, secondary coil (the one attached to the spark plug wire) along with the wire and plug. Still no spark. He dropped it off at my place a month ago to see if I could figure out what was wrong. I did all the recommended tests and everything was within specs. I checked all connections and switches, all okay. So everything was perfect but still no spark. Here's the problem solver, I devised my own test and pushed "Bell wire" beside the positive and negative pins of the primary coil inside the plug of the ATV wiring harness (see below for wire identification) leading to the CDI box. I touched the wires to the ends of a "Double A" battery observing polarity. The spark plug sparked. So I knew right away everything in the ignition wiring was good and there was a problem with the primary coil. So there you go, no ohms and crap to test, you'll know right away where to look for the problem. I pulled the stator housing and found that the primary coil (or what ever you might call it) was mounted upside down, I removed it, turned it over, remounted it and now the machine runs perfectly. Here is some info I could not find on line regarding the primary coil: The after market stator on this machine: Blue with yellow stripe is positive from the primary coil Green with white stripe is negative from the primary coil. ATV wiring harness: White with blue stripe is positive from the primary coil pin to CDI. White with red stripe is negative from the primary coil pin to CDI. I hope this information helps somebody.
  4. Hi All, I live in Minnesota and bought a 2016 CFORCE 500 HO. I am in hope to see if there is anyone in the US that is experiencing this sudden drop off in RPM below 4000 RPM. I have uploaded some videos of my issue on YouTube. I will list three of the four I posted. The fourth can be found on my channel but it is a comparison between my Polaris 570 and my CFORCE 500. I quit on my first dealer because we just did not mix well together. I brought it to another CFMOTO dealer that just became a CFMOTO dealer in January 2016. They are in a large ranch and agriculture area in a neighboring state that is pretty close to where I live. They have close to every brand available. They are a much larger dealer than the first one I bought the unit from. I brought the unit three weeks ago to them and they have worked on it a good solid week and have given up on it. I have read reports from owners in Canada that the dealers there were aware of the issue and have had success in fixing the herky jerky drivability issue. I am picking it up tomorrow and bringing it back home. It has been to the trails of the Black Hills this year and was new in late April. 300 miles on it. It has never changed. Very hard to ride on the trails or when I herd livestock. Here are the links to my videos. I can't accept that this is normal operation. Does anyone from CFMOTO China scan these posts? I need help that CFMOTO USA has not provided. Thanks Kevin

  6. I bought this old three wheeler that I found in a barn. It looked pretty rough, but I have it running now and functioning. With the switch set to "run" and the key in the "on" position the electric starter does not work when I push the starter button, However, if I cross the solenoid it will work and it will start the engine - so I know the starter motor is good and it works. Now, it gets a little mysterious. When the engine is running, AND the headlight is on high beam, the electric starter will engage when the starter button is pushed.....When its already running! (when the headlight is off or on "low" the starter button does nothing, only when running and in high beam will you hear the starter motor zing when you push the starter button) So, I know the button actually works, but only after the engine is already running and the high beam is on! So to recap: with the key on, the starter button does nothing. crossing the solenoid will make the starter work, and after the engine is running the starter will work with the button! Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone point me in the right direction on solving this one? Thanks!
  7. I have a 1989 Yamaha Moto 4 250. It starts right up on first pull and runs like a champ. However there is a reason I'm having to pull start it. When the bike is running the lights and the kill switch work but when the bike is off I have no power. The battery is brand new. Do I start with the regulator or maybe the CDI? I wasn't sure if the coil or the starter had anything to do with it. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.
  8. ok it will start up an run but quits a lot till it gets warm, but has a bad miss an wont idle, I have a brand new Honda carb on it, good gas flow, new plug, but when I let the throttle go below a quarter, it backfires through carb an tail pipe:confused: so it has never had any electrical work or mechanical work done...it just started all the sudden, I'm think it may have ignition coil breaking down, or cdi box going bad...anyone had this trouble before? let me know what you did to fix it. thanks:skeptic:
  9. I have a 1997 polaris I'm trying to fix for a Friend. The bike runs great but when you engage the awd the motor bogs down and won't hardly run. Once you disengage awd everything works good again. Any ideas?
  10. I have a 95 350 warrior it will not start. Push button just clicks and roll starting the wheels just roll they won't catch or anything. Can someone please help?
  11. I recently purchased a 2005 Suzuki LTZ 400, for the first few days it ran like a champ but now when it gets hot, no matter what you do, it will stall out when you stop. Even going from 2nd or 3rd gear it still stalls out. It still runs perfect, it just stalls when I hit the breaks (hard or soft). I don't know much about quads so I could use some help.
  12. 1983 Yamaha YT175 Fired up for the first time after total rebuild. Now I have no idea whats going on. Compression is 120, new plug, new fuel and oil lines, new choke and fresh fuel. Carb cleaned and reeds are good (no gaps). Will not start without choke and stalls out when choke is off. Played with choke adjustment and doesn't change. It fires up first pull and only idles if I play with idle screw. As soon as I touch throttle, it goes bezerk on me and I have to shut it down as you can see in video ....... You can here the recoil lever tinging in the video. I lost the spring. D"oh!! So far I have swapped ignition coil, spark plug, CDI with no change. I have removed flywheel to check keyway and it is where it should be. Checked resistance on stator ... I get 10ohms +/- 10% on pickup coil within specs as per manual and I get 273ohms on charge coil. Manual states 300ohms +/- 10%, so that is also within spec. I have also swapped out jet needle and played around with different settings. Eventually I put it back to the 3rd line. The engine already has new seals and bearing so I am completely baffled as to what I am missing here. Any takers? Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks I have also swapped carbs from a running YT175. Same results.
  13. I bought a 2004 Eiger 5 speed. The guy I got it from let it sit 3 months in the winter. It would start up but not idle and die out when you revved it up. I took carb off soaked it, cleaned jets, reset floats, new gas. It would sart but flood after a few seconds. Tore it down again. Now it won't start. Gas runs out the vent tube!!!! Sometimes the plug is wet sometimes not. Have good consistent spark and the flywheel had been changed out. Any ideas?! Is it a vacuum issue? Maybe carb boot between carb and head? And I checked the fuel flow from the pitcock so I don't believe that's the issue.
  14. This has been a frustrating one to figure out, but long story short I've replaced just about every component on the machine and I'm still not getting spark. Or at least not how it suppose to work... When the engine is turning over it does not spark at all, but sometimes when I let off on the start button it will spark just once. I've played with this numerous times and it will only generate a spark like this. I've seemed to somehow come to the conclusion that this correlates to the engine or crank "rocking" backwards. Depending on where it is in the stroke the crank will rotate back in the opposite direction when the starter motor dis-engages. I thought maybe I had a polarity problem, but this is where I'm stuck. If it is indeed a polarity problem what could cause it? If it's not a polarity problem is it just categorized as a "weak" spark issue? Everything seems to ohm out fine, continuity checks at each plug check out, etc, etc.... Throw me some ideas. PLEASE!
  15. Hello everyone! I would like to excuse myself in advance, as I am not very smart in mechanics... So, bear with me. Last year my girlfriend gave me a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 300, as she was moving and fourwheelers werent allowed in city limits. Recently, I have run into a little problem. My fourwheeler will idle just fine for a bit, but whenever I give it any throttle, it will kill the motor or nearly kill it. Eventually, if it idles too long, the motor dies. Im not sure why its doing this. My dad thinks it is the fuel filter, but he also isnt familiar with small engines. When I start my fourwheeler, I generally let it idle for about 4-6 minutes. It also never has needed to be choked to be started really, just a little tap on the throttle. Im not sure what it is, and need opinions. Thanks!
  16. Hello everyone I have a liitle issue here that has left me scratching my head. I recently bought a Moto 4 87 2wd. About 20 minutes after I got it home I heard a loud wrenching and snapping and then what sounded of metal whirling around in places it shouldnt. I opened up the right crankcase and found that a spring on the clutch carry assembly has broken unto ublivion. Not the clutch now, the clutch carry assembly. I bought a new spring, replaced it. And put it all back together (with some difficulty, I am unsure about the reinstallation of one part - see video in link below). I started it up no problem, with the immediate wrenching and snapping and whirling again. Opened it up again, another broken spring. I have now ordered enough springs to replace ALL the srings at the same time because I have noticed all the springs but one are very loose. Attached is a link to a video I have of the problem, please let me know if you have ANY information that could be helpful. The video can be found here. [ame] [/ame]
  17. Just picked up a 2004 Sportsman 600. Was running great. After a day of tearing up the yard, it will not staying idling unless I am giving it a bit of gas. I looked for the idle adjustment screw but it was not where the manual illustrated it. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
  18. i am wanting to know if a CV Axle out of a 1994 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4 will work in a 1995 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4.
  19. I have completely replaced my front brake shoes, hoses, and master cylinder. I have bled the brakes the best I could. I am still unable to build up much pressure. The wheel cylinders only push out about 1/8" when the handle is squeezed. What should be the typical travel on the cylinder for the brake shoe to hit the drum? I've used a brake bleeder, but still can't get all of the air out. I'm not sure what else to do. Any thoughts?
  20. Had been sitting up for 6 months or more, changed oil, air filter, plug and gas. Cranks right up as long as you leave choke engauged, but once you disengage, goes dead. If I leave choke on and listen, sounds like a faint grinding noise in motor. Every once in awhile I will hear a thump. A friend said to run premium gas (about 3 tanks) and seafoam and it should work it out. Lol what do you think?
  21. I got a 2011 king quad 400 asi thats fuel injected (throttle body) when machine is cold it runs great, after riding it for a while it gets extremely sluggish when ur just kinda cruising with a little bit of throttle applied, goin about 8-10mph with just a little bit of throttle it feels and sounds like the engine is struggling or under an extreme load, if u give it more throttle it will pick up and take off and run great, it seams to me i got fuel/air problem but know nothing of how to work on fi atv, i changed and used all grades of gas, changed plugs ( which r black as coal) , if u take aircleaner out it will run better for a little bit then it seems to get worse, it will also backfire when freewheeling or coasting down a hill whether its 1mph or 10mph short of taking it to the garage and raping my wallet i dont know where to go or what i can do do solve the issue if anything, i dont wanna have to spend $300 on a fuel programmer for a machine that should run fine without one, oh forgot to mention the kg is completely stock and only has 660 miles and 140 hrs, can anyone help???
  22. I have a problem I have been trying to fix for over a week now and I am hoping someone can help me out. I have a 99 warrior that i replaced the clutch in and now when I am idling in neutral and go to put it in gear the gear leaver moves but it won' go in to gear until I slowly let the clutch out, then it will suck it into gear. The real crazy part is that this problem doesn't always happen, it happens 5 out 10 times that I try. When I am riding it shifts fine I only have this problem when I am idling. I have tried to adjust the cable but it doesn't make a difference. I would be great full if someone could help me out. Thanks Monstertails
  23. New problem. I wanted to change the fluid in my front hubs only to find that there wasn't any fluid in them but full of grease instead. Pulled the hub apart and found the hub seals are missing. I ordered Part # 3610019 that was listed for my model. They are too big. They measure 3.258in across and my hubs measure 3.10in. I was baffled. I can only assume that someone in the last 12 years replaced the hubs. They are Polaris hubs though. I have checked through several years and models and all I have seen list the same part number. Anyone have any ideas on this or happen to know a seal part number with that measurement? The rotor hole is the same as the hub. This is a 4x4 with Hilliard Clutch. Thanks for your input.
  24. Hey all and thanks for the welcome. I bought a Suzuki King Quad 300 new in 1995 for use on the farm. We used it several years without it hardly missing a beat. Then about twelve years or so ago it started acting like a loaded up two-stroke, blubbering and spitting. At that time I had owned motorcycles for about thirty-six years. I had worked for pretty good sized dealer, raced bikes and later I had two bike shops so I had a little mechanical experience. First thing I did was disassemble and clean the carb, which made no difference at all. After trying everything in my bag of tricks I broke down and took it to a “professional” who assured me that it was a worn needle and seat. I doubted that to be the case but approved the $125 or so “repairs”. It was of little consolation to me that the “professional” couldn’t figure it out either for his “repairs” made absolutely no difference whatsoever. Reluctantly I carried it to another shop. As soon as I started it to unload it off the truck the mechanic said, “That’s an electrical problem.” Well this “professional” knew what he was talking about and after replacing an electrical part it ran great again for another five or six years before it started doing the same thing. I discovered that if I turned on the light that it would smooth right out run normal. By that time we had bought a Kawasaki 610 Mule and the Suzuki didn’t get used much. A few years ago the blubbering and spitting came back even with the lights on. I kept meaning to track down its electrical issue and fix it but other things took precedence. It has been a year or more I suppose since I even started it. I tried to find the paperwork from the original repair to see what was replaced but couldn’t. Although I can hold my own on mechanical issues I have never been very proficient at electrical issues (if they were very complex). I have had the Clymer’s repair manual for any years and I’m sure there is an electrical trouble shooting section I just need to take time to check it out. My thoughts are that it is the rectifier regulator but before I spring for $100 or so I need to do some checking. I have a fencing project through the woods coming up and the Mule is just too big to go through some areas so I need to get the Quad back in service. I have rebuilt the starter a couple of times over the years and will do that again and get a new battery for it. I noticed that in another recent post a King Quad owner had a similar issue. I welcome any thoughts. Thanks again FJ
  25. I have a Suzuki ive been working on. my only one problem I have left is that when I first got it I could get it to 45 quickly and easily now I can only get it to about 16 very slowly. Suggestions????? THANK YOU!!!!
