  2. Rear axle top up threaded housing broke today; please see pic. Quad still usable until today but no value in it for costly replacement. Would welcome any thoughts on "how can I keep it running" can the housing be repaired ???
  3. My big bear makes some crazy grinding/clanking noises when backing up. I am guessing that this is a fairly common problem since I am having a pretty hard time finding parts and when I do they are very expensive. Does anyone have any advice? What all is there out there for interchange? My big bear also has some other issues....if I am running it all day, I will have to change the spark plug at least once because it will foul one out. The rear end has been making this noise for over a year now and you can actually feel it through the machine also. My quad is not used for play but only work...search and rescue, running around the property pulling parts (80 acres), plowing snow, spraying weeds, fertilizing, and fencing. Once on a search and rescue mission while coming back on the gravel roads back to the trailers at top speed there was a loud bang like it bounded up and popped loose and continued going but it was loud and felt it very well. Has anyone else had these kinds of problems?
  4. i am wanting to know if a CV Axle out of a 1994 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4 will work in a 1995 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4.

  7. The rear axle has some slop in the CV boot where it goes into the transmission. How much play is normal. It is not making any noise. Can that joint be replaced and if so where to get parts. I have replaced CV joints and u-joints in cars just not atv's Thanks
  8. I am in the process of putting a rear swing arm on an atv, and by the way it looks i have to pull the rear differential off the swing arm to get the spline shaft back into place on the differential that comes off the back of the transfer case.. Anyways i got the brake assembly off the hubs off and the two ring nuts and cant get the axle shaft to slide out of the rear differential, i am using a block of wood and a good size hammer and hitting the axle on the left hand side if you were standing behind the machine... can a guy try a press??? any help would be greatly appreciated...

  11. Hello All I'm new to the site and its a pleasure to be here. I want to ask a question about my bike. Last year I replaced my Kodiak rear axle, 2 bearings and 2 seals. Less than a year later the bearings are bad and I've had water in the rear diff the last couple of rides. I'm going to replace the bearings but my question is how are the seals oriented. Both of them kind of have lips on one side and flat on the other. How are they supposed positioned in the rear diff. Any help or tips would be appreciated. Thanks
  12. Im sending out my rear axle to a driveshaft shop to be straightened and balanced. Upon removing all the axle parts like many others, I too damaged the sprocket hub while pressing it out. My question is ... is the aftermarket aluminum sprocket hub as durable as the factory steel hub? I dont care about its strength as far as its shear rate but i dont want to rebuild the rear constantly if the aluminum splines wear out against the steel axle splines. I do know as far as wear, steel would last longer than aluminum. Question is how much sooner will it wear out? Sent from my SGH-T959V using Xparent Blue Tapatalk
  13. ok guys i am runnnin into problems with my ex the splines on the axle are wearing out and i cant keep the hubs tight anymore they just keep getting looser.... im tryin to get some advantages here so i heard the 250r is interchangeble with the ex is this tru?? and if so is the axle and hubs combined gonna be shorter or longer cause i dont want it shorter..... need to know any advantages and disadvantages of this change... Help is apreciated:yes:
  14. What rear axle should I use on my atv. The carrier right now is stock. I have a lonestar racing complete carrier not installed yet. Im going to upgrade to 22" tires plus the new sprocket combo will probably lead to more stress than the axle could handle. I dont think it will break but it bend. I already straightened it once. Metal doesnt like to bend in two directions that is a fact. I dont want to go wider than stock and everyone says every brand sucks. So far i will eliminate durablue as they seem to get the worst reviews. Any input? Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk
  15. I bought this 98 Suzuki knowing that the front differential was bad, and the rear one might be. But I am on Social Security without much money, I am disabled, can't hardly walk, and the only way I can keep on hunting and fishing is if I get this running; this is what I can afford. I followed the instructions in my Clymer repair manual; so far everything is dismantled and the right front axle is out; it came out just like the book said it would with a "light tap". But I can't get the left front axle out no matter what I do. It is supposed to come out as easy as the right one, with just a light tap or two; but I have tapped and banged as hard as I dare to without breaking something; I just cant get that left front axle out; what am I doing wrong? Is there some kind of circlip, or retainer, on the left axle inside the differential that holds it in? I cannot find anything in the Clymer manual that says there is; but that axle just will not budge; and as I said a little tap isnt doing it; and I am afraid to bang on it any harder. I can't affor to take it to a shop; not only that but the front end is all apart and I couldnt get it into my pickup bed even if I wanted to now. So will somebody please help me and tell me what I am doing wrong; I really need to get this running so I can keep on fishing and hunting. Thanks Ken
  16. Hello, Can someone say what are the differencies between 350 raptop ( year 07 ) and YFZ 450 ( year 07 ) rear axles? I have new g-force adjustable rear axle and just thinking is it possible to install it to YFZ 450? Does that need some modifications or should it fit on it ??

  18. I have a 05 400 cat and did not notice that I had torn a boot untill it was to late. The outer joint is shot. How do the axles come out? Is it a c-clip that has to be removed first or is it a pin type that can be removed with a slide hammer. Love the site. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  19. my left front axle keeps poping out of the diff. i replaced the lock ring and it didnt help what else can i do has any one else had this problem?
  20. :confused:I know I have asked this before but just want to be sure! The axle's do just " pop " out correct? I have never taken one apart before. I tore a boot and toasted the cv joint. I have a slide hammer and will attempt this tomorrow. Does anyone know what a shop will charge to replace one? Sorry its been a long time since I have been on site but with two kids in hockey and construction the way it is did not have the money to mess with it. Hockey is over know but unfortunatly I tore my rotator mucles in shoulder and will be out of work till June. I now have nothing but time to mess with stuff so figured I would get the ATV ready for summer.
  21. I bought my banshee a little over a year ago and love it, but it just needed a facelift... so im adding some burgard +2+1 a-arms, a +4 axle, stainless brake lines, a new set of 21x12x8 8pdl hauler paddles, and some powder coating... i just got my new +4 axle the other day and decided to put it in... I had my buddy josh powder coat my carrier as well as my brake and sprocket hubs before i put it all together... My a-arms should be here next week but ill have to wait till i get back from my trip to Little Sahara OK to put them on... This winter im tearing it all apart and having josh coat my frame, swing arm, and a bunch of other stuff to round out this project... here are some pics of my axle installed and my new coating...
