for trains the raptor is a bit top heavy. 400ex, 450r are great trail bikes and xc racers.
word up, if your looking for a low maintenance CHEAP trail quad the 400ex and 450r are my first picks

its a great loss to our sport.
he had about a 7% chance of living through the surgery he had on sunday. but died due to comlications of the surgery sunday night at 11:03pm.
i pray that God comforts his family and friends in this horrible time.

When I talked to Elka they said they either have long travel which is what you put on extended a-arms and std travel which you put on stock width. I'm sure you could squeeze long travel on a stock setup.
standard travel shock lenght is AROUND 16.25 inches on the 400ex and varies bewteen different quads
now long travel shock lenght is AROUND 19.25 inches on the 400ex.
both shocks sizes have to be valved for either
stock width
+1
+2
or +3
with that said,
bot, i think you have extended a arms confused with LT a arms.
extended a arms can come in BOTH standard and long travel. but all LT means is the bottom shock mount is moved to a better handling point, lower on the A arm. standard travel means the shocks mount is placed the same place as stock, MEANING your shocks placement didnt move. all that changed is the lenght of your A arms.
my +2 a arms are standard travel. my elka's bottom shock mount didnt move at all. the only difference is the a arms were extended 2 inched on each side of the frame.
now each shock(ST and LT) is set up for the specific A arm geometry.
for example,
my elkas are valved for a 165ibs MX rider on +2 standard travel a arms.
if i ran +1 or stock width a arms that would be ok. but if my elkas were valved for stock width a arm and i had them on my +2 a arms they would WAY to plush, resulting in bottoming out.
now LT shocks on a stock a arms MIGHT work but would change the ride height drastically, and make it much more tippier. so it will basically throw the quad's geometry way off.
vice versa for stock lenght shocks on LT a arms
-
either way they will be valeved different... i know like fox and sway-away nitrogen shocks you can buy valve kits and valve them yourself...
yea i think that would be better than sending them in for 300+ buck 0.0
btw you can run shocks valved for +2 a arms on stock a arms, i ran this kinda setup with my elkas for a good while. but when you put shocks valved for stock width a arms on +2 a arms you will be running way to soft. the only answer to that solution is send to be revalved or adjust your preload drastically.
-
You would have to buy a set for std travel or a set for long. I'm sure they could rebuild them to fit LT. All of the adjustment are made through air pressure.
i think he means adjustments bewteen standard travel stock width a arm and +2 standard travel a arms.
not bewteen long travel and standard travel.

yuck BB thats disgusting on a sportquad. bot and i will stick with or razr, right bot?

im always here if you guys and gals need any help.
-
i know of one standard travel MGC company. HRE.
have you got to ride the floats yet?
-
looks awesome bot, are you going to get some +2s eventually?
-
i understand that haha
yfz shocks can actually be cheaper than the 450r shocks. just search ebay and keep your eyes open.
-
idk
i would rather get yfz450 shocks for suspension.
it doesnt make your ride height higher and they are softer over bumps and potholes.
or you could fork over 5-900 bills for some elka/pep/axis shocks, like i did
-
are you looking for more torque or more top end?
-
i use the pressure washer with the highest pressure nozzle and it cleans it great. makes it look black again. if that doesnt work then go to walmart and go to the tire spray with dale earnhardt on the can. sorry but i cant think of the name of the stuff. we used that on our tires when our pressure washer was dead and it also worked great.
that kinda slop is usual in georgia.

well its been awhile so heres a little update.
as most of you know my quad blew up at the begining of the year. well its been rebuilt to a 406. and since my birthday is within the next month, my dad decided to buy me a jardine RT-4 slip on for 85 bucks off ebay.
another thing is my clutch cable is streched so ill have to buy a new one, but thats such a small inexpensive fix its probbly not worth metioning haha
heres a link to the auction

they could be works, elkas, or other aftermarket without piggybacks???? thats what i've been wanting to replace my old warrior with or another banshee... either would work... looks pretty clean...
possibly but i didnt see any nipples at the top of the shock. which is what elka and others has on their no rezzy shocks
