While riding a 1985 Honda ATC 200S in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey I had my most memorable crash. This was over thirty years ago and no injury happened to my trike, me or my buddy Joe. I was hammering the gas to try to keep up with Joe's faster 1986 Honda ATC 250SX when out of nowhere he stopped. His brake light wasn't working so by the time I realised he was stopped it was too late. I lined up my front wheel to his right rear wheel and SMACK! I flew over the bars and Joe's right shoulder. I did a flip landing flat on my back in soft sand. While I flipped over Joe he looked over his left shoulder and missed the whole thing. We laughed it off and kept riding.

Awesome intro! Welcome from Bennington, VT! 😎

About 34 years ago I jumped into cycle riding headfirst. My 1st ride was a late 1970's Yamaha XS500 street bike. My best street bike was a new leftover 1987 BMW K75T. In that time frame a friend of mine bought a HONDA ATC 70 trike. I rode it around his yard and of course ran over my leg, being used to 2 wheelers. Within a year or so I bought a Honda ATC 200S three wheeler. I still love that trike to this day (it brought me to the sport). Next was a 1986 Honda ATC 350X. OMG what a HOT FAST Trike!!! My third trike was a 1985 Honda ATC 200X. My fourth trike is a 1985 Honda ATC250SX which will be buried or cremated with me (still runs GREAT). Through those years I got to ride other peoples machines. I rode a Yamaha Warrior, an early Honda TRX250 and others and enjoyed it. I like the quads, but LOVE the three wheelers! I wish the manufacturers would make modern three wheelers, they would be AMaZinG! So because my woman is an amateur I recently purchased a Honda Recon. I love the addition to my garage! I rode her the day after purchase. FUN!!! Quads are great fun!

Mud Season 2008 Episode 1.
I just found another ten year old video I made. There was a good amount of snow for April. It's me riding the Stagecoach trail with too much snow for my tires. I was surprised how far I got going uphill. I think I got about a half a mile up.

So far I am happy with them, and yes they are good in mud. I checked out a lot of comparisons one you tube video tested the top rated tires and the bear claws did well. I did check out the top rated tires and they were far more expensive. I feel like the bear claws are good tires at a reasonable price. I mounted them myself using a harbor freight tire machine. If I was doing it again I would take them to the tire shop for mounting. So far if I had to buy another set I would stick with the bear claws. Hope that helps you.
That does help. Thanks!

I tried everything you suggested already. It seems like Quadcrazy members don't join clubs.

I love Kenda tires! Are the Bear Claws good in mud?

Thanks for the welcomes. The Recon is strictly 2 wheel drive.

My favourite riding is on trails with heavy tree cover. I also prefer a heavily ridden trail beaten & worn.
My local riding is Rocky, wet & muddy with mud holes & river crossings through beautiful wooded mountains & swampland. There is one mud hole so hairy that it earned the name Scouts Hole because it supposedly ate a Boy Scout. I can drive from Vermont to Massachusetts on those trails.
I also Love riding at my friends camp named Widstock. We have been cutting and trimming trails there for 18 years! It's similar to my local riding but with a minimal amount of rocks & more off camber and uneven riding, a nice challenge. It also has a mud hole named The Bog.
Starting thirty years ago I used to ride in The Pine Barrens of NJ. There are mostly what NJ people call scrubby pines (man sized pine trees) & lots of sandy trails. The sand is loose in some areas and packed in others. Once while riding on 2 Honda ATC 250SX 3 wheelers, my 1985 & my buddy Joe's 86 we came up to the west side of the Garden State Parkway. I didn't hesitate and rode out onto the shoulder of The GSP. I rode next to the vehicle traffic as quickly as possible and got back onto the trails just as quickly! Great fun in the Pine Barrens!

I just joined the forum minutes ago. Looks like there are a lot of informative members here. I have been riding for 30+ years. I have ridden street bikes, ATCs & ATVs. For offroad I have only owned three wheelers until yesterday. I picked up a Honda Recon ES yesterday. I had her out today and she is a good machine but has carburetor issues. It is good that I found this forum and look forward to being a member.
