2. I was going to paint and chrome all the trim on the truck but it's just not bad enough to need it right now so I'm just using it like grandpa did as a work truck. The frame and other parts are out for sand blasting, then to powder coat next week on the 200x. This will take longer to put back together because I have 3 other magazine projects to do first. One being a crazy twin 1100cc engine monster Brute Force.
3. Hi my name is Mickey Dunlap owner of Four Stroke Tech a high performance engine building business here in Pa. I enjoy building performance quads,ATC and UTV's,but I'm also here to help you with any engine problems you may be having also. I have been building engines of all kinds for 40 years, and while I admit I don't have all the answers I have seen a lot over the years and I might be able to help if you need some free info. I build a lot of magazine projects for ATV and UTV magazines and some prototype models for the factories. The next project I'm working on right now is a Kawasaki Brute Force 750 as more of a high HP sport 4x4 to go up against the Can-Am 1000 and the Polaris Scrambler 850. I call it the KFV 1100-X. It will be striped of the racks, lowered 2 inches with the Elka shocks, running 22x10 front and rear tires and widen out to 50 inches for better handeling. Oh and a nice 1100cc bored and stroked motor putting out 100 plus HP to the wheels.
4. For those that don't know me my name is Mickey Dunlap owner of Four Stroke Tech. In the 80's I was one of the few that made a living racing 3 wheelers and in 1983 after winning 5 races against Team Honda they started helping me out in trade for being able to use my name in there win adds. In 1984 they gave me a full ride and this was one of my last ATC 200x's that I just got last Dec. on a trip to Washington state where I grew up. I flew out there to pick up my grand fathers 1969 Ford F-100 my mom sold me. I knew of this 200x for 20 years but the guy would never sell it to me,but my mom sweet talked him into selling it back to me. On my way back to PA. I stopped in Or. to pick up two more of my old racers from Powroll perforemance my eingine builder back then. The guy painted it Powroll's blue and white, but I just started restoring in back to the way it was when I raced it for Honda. 5. I just read through this whole thread, and I think it should be titled "Stay away from 4 Stroke Tech,if you are a hot head". LOL At the first part of this thread he says he was warned about me. What that means is if you are a dick head to me and talk to me like dirt I'm not going to be nice to you. I build high performance motors because I like to,I enjoy it,I live for it! But if you are a hot head and start telling me how to run my business and try to push me to do something I can't do,then heed the warning and stay away. I don't like dealing with this kind of stuff and I may come across harsh when someone trys to bully me, but like I said I like building cool fast motors and I can't do that when you are a dick head to me. Do I understand everyone wants everything yesterday, yes. We all live with this microwave mentality in these days, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen that way in the real world with real problems. I think Mr. Alleva is starting to learn from this,I hope, or he'll go through it again and again until he does. Engine building is a tuff business to be in,if it were easy everyone would be doing it. This marks my 25th year in business as Four Stroke Tech, but I have been building my own motors and worked for other performance shops for 40 years. Hopefully everyone see's what has happen here and learns from it. Mr. Alleva did things wrong and it now has cost him way more money then it would have, 3 more months, and he still isn't riding.
6. What is this? marioweldinginc: C'mon Diggin! Prove Dunlap wrong!
7. When you rebuilt it did you put new valves in it,and how much time is on the new build?
8. Not much to say today?Maybe because your pants are on fire!
9. Most of the time the cam timing is off. Set the rear cylinder on TDC "R" for rear, and set your cam timing for that cylinder with the cam lobes down. Then take a 19mm wrench and place it at 12:00 on the fly wheel bolt on the left hand side and turn the motor over clock wise until about 9:00 and start looking in the inspection hole for TDC "F" for front, and set your cam time again with the lobes down. What happens with most people is the do this but when they start turning the motor over they see the TDC F but it's only at 3:00 and they set the cam there. It has to go past 3:00 thats why I say start looking when you get to 9:00.
10. Sumthin fishy all right, like the fact it was never started, you never rode it,blah, blah, blah. Yes they have to take it back apart and take the crank apart and put it back the way I sent it to you.
11. Well as long as it shifts into 4th with out any noise you should be good.
12. Well that sounds good,I guess. I dont know what you are talking about as far as a 5lbs sledge,I never damaged any thing. Im not sure you know what you are talking about as far as the crank, but the rod is clearanced for 4th gear not the counter balance so they better not have turned that around! These motor are tested and proven to last as good as a stocker. We raced them in the pro am GNNC races and won the championship with no problems.
13. Well he has been on here, but hes not talking so thats not good.
14. LOL,there you go again trying to tell me what to do,you would think by now you would know you can't do that! I think they will do a good job for you, just don't try pushing them to do it in your time frame.
15. The directions were in there along with the info on how to re-sleeve the cylinder and the fittings for the oil cooler. As far as doing the work, yes it had two days worth of work to be done to it. One day to bore the cases and re-sleeve the cylinder and another day to put it together. But as you know there were two jobs in front of you. I got those two jobs done and would have had your motor back 5 weeks ago,but you had to be a hot head demanding something I couldn't give you at that time. So since I didn't see you talking about it for the past 8 weeks I wanted to know how being a hot head that cares nothing about anyone but his self worked out for you! You could have been riding with the job done right having fun.
16. What! It's been two months! It's a two day job. Get over there and tell them in your best NY hot headed way you bought a pass to go riding and this is not exceptable! LOL The oil cooler isn't missing any parts,we just put JB weld in it where you plug off the hole to re-rought the oil. We can't get the little ball bearing we JB welded in before anymore and it's no big deal either way. We had just got a new computer and we can't use the old program that we made the directions off of so the directions didn't have that changed on them, but I should have wrote that on the sheet. It took me all day just to get the motor boxed up the way I was feeling back then and I forgot that detail. Sorry.
17. Well it's been 2 months now,how did it work out for you?
18. Yea I was looking for one from her to you,but I couldn't find one. That's because I told you in all these. On 5/11/2012 10:30 PM, [email protected] wrote: > Hi Mickey, > > Any good news? Actually I would like to know if I would have the motor back and able to break it in before the 19th. There is a big trail run that V-Force John is setting up on his property in Barnesville PA. I shut the business down for 2 weeks and now I'm just trying to fill the orders my wife took in in e-mails. Sorry about the wait, with this nice weather and everything I'm sure you are going nuts,I know I am because I want to work on my 1100cc motor I'm building and I can't do that until my customers stuff is done. Just like you cant understand why Im pissed that I wasted $2000 and all Im getting back is a box of parts. Now I have to find an engine builder who is going to charge me because he has to repair what you did. I gave you a running motor and look what Im geting back. My $1100 membership to LIMX has been a bust. My membership to F1 Long Island has been wasted also my RAC pass is useless. This build has been going on long enough. I am not sure what stage the motor is at but you said I was next in line about a month ago. I paid you what you wanted so I can have an engine built in a timely manner, not plunk down money and have you get to it when you feel like it. This build isnt a favor to me, it needs to get done, Ive been more than patient and understanding since I do run a small welding business too. I know sh** happens with machine shops and part delays. >> This build is going on 11 weeks. Not acceptable. Since that isn't good enough for you I will box up your motor as it is Tuesday and send it back,I won't charge you any more so you can get some one else to do it. You not understanding isn't from a lack of both my wife and I telling you. We have kept you in the loop step by step, but you seem to be a bit of a hot head and with a total lack of respect. You can't push me to do something I can't do,so the best thing is to get you the motor back to you so you can get some that can do it for you quicker. Good luck on the rest of your project, your work order with all the prices will be in the box. So I was wrong about my wife getting back to,it was all from me.I did the best I could to talk to you about it but it didn't seam to matter to you.
19. I had my wife getting back to everyone by e-mail this is the guy waiting for a quad and motor to be done. Hi Jerry, this Lisa Dunlap Mickey's wife. Almost two weeks ago now Mickey shut his phones down to work longer hours to get all the orders and small jobs done so he could get your bike done. Well everything went well until that weekend when he got up and felt totally exhausted,he slept all weekend thinking he just over worked him self. By Wednesday I finally got him to go to the emergency room. He has had this happen before but never did a blood test while he was still feeling bad. They had never found out what it was, but now we know he has fatty liver disease. We now know what to do,but we don't know how long it's going to be before he even starts answering phones, let along gets working again. He will call you when he can and let you know more then. Lisa Dunlap I deleted his info off the e-mails but I believe she got back to everyone waiting for stuff the best she could. I got this 400ex motor apart the day I got back in on the Monday when I found out where it was. I was doing everything I could until I got sick to keep up on everything. I still have the two jobs to get done that were before this 400ex and I don't know when I will be able to. I been doing this for 30 years and there are some people you just can't please,so this is how we got here and I'm happy with him getting his motor back so he can get it done.
20. It's not a matter of either of us being right or wrong, you want your motor now and I am unable to do it in your time frame due to having health problems and having to close the business for over two weeks.Your lack of understanding that I put my health before my business didn't set well with me,but it is what it is. I'm OK with sending it back, you said that's what you wanted too, so what's the point of this? I didn't charge you a dime for any labor, between parts and shipping it back to you with "insurance" you are good to go. I think I did a good job of answering every question you had,got back to you in a timley manner keeping you up todate, and right before VFJ's ride you said don't worry about it for the ride you had a Grizzly. Next thing I know your are making demands and going off on a rant.I read a few of your post and that looks like it's nothing new,but the bottom line is your motor will ship as you said and will be there early next week.
21. Well I'm here,do you want me to post up all the e-mails or do you just want to talk about it?
