look on youtube for other kawasaki V-TWINN powered machines that have the belt drive system .. the V-force 700 ,,,prairie 360,,prairie 400,,,bruteforce 650 an 750 .. and see if that will help.. i know that some of the wire plugs are not all grey an black .. some are both black... its a crazy setup .. but i have done it and went through the same thing .. i own 3 of the kawasaki's with the belt drive system ..

ok... i did alot of searching on your machine and there was a problem with alot of the 02 prairies and alot of them had the wire harness replaced at dealerships an when the dealer ordered the new harness they got them and had the same color plugs on them ... i found this out through my local kawasaki dealer and service department ... you should still be able to do the prossess at swaping the plugs an doing the reset as u find on youtube ... if not you will have to find a dealer that can do it and show u how to for further resets ...

thanks for your efforts .what u suggest is what i have been doing with no luck, except the paper clip jumper .cuz i dont know what wires to jump and dont want to fry anything. .i bought a wiring harness off ebay and changed the front section and all the relays and diodes that are by the shifter to the ignition .i did not change the key .still no luck yesterday i had the computer unpluged an turned on the key an the lites still were blinking .this makes no sence to me if im supposed to be resetting the computer,it must be a relay i did test the diode with an ome meter it was as it should be today i will try to test the relays .as far as the dealers around here i burned my bridges at one and i think i know more then the mechanic at the other and the third wont even talk to u .its just drop it off an we will check it out .AND GIVE U A NICE FAT BILL weather we can fix it or not.thanks again

Drive Belt Failure Detection System:

The Drive Belt Failure Detection system consists of a switch mounted in the CVT cover that can be tripped by a worn or damaged belt.

If the Drive Belt Failure Detection switch is tripped, the Belt Check Indicator light will flash and the vehicle will enter “slow mode.”

In slow mode, the vehicle is limited to 3600 rpm, and the vehicle will not enter 4WD.

Other Conditions :

The Drive Belt Failure Detection system can be activated due to sudden changes in voltage.

Several common conditions that can activate the system:

Other Conditions :

The Drive Belt Failure Detection system can be activated due to sudden changes in voltage.

Several common conditions that can activate the system:

• Disconnecting/connecting the battery with the key in the ON position, this is common for new units during initial setup.

• Use of accessories that have a significant draw on the battery. The Drive Belt Failure Detection switch sends voltage to the igniter.

If the battery is connected or disconnected when the key is in the ON position, the igniter reads the sudden change in voltage as

the switch being tripped.

All KVF Models (Except KVF650-A1/B1): KVF360-A/C, KVF650-A/B/D/E/F/G/H, KVF700A/B/D, and KVF750-A/B/C models have both an hour meter feature and a

Drive Belt Failure Detection switch. KVF360-A/C

NOTE:

On KVF360-A/C models, the Belt Check Indicator light is illuminated after 100 hours has accumulated.

If 100 hours has accumulated, the Belt Check Indicator light will come on and stay on. If the Drive Belt Failure Detection switch is tripped,

the Belt Check Indicator light will flash and go into slow mode. If the light is flashing, the switch must be placed back into the ON position

prior to completing the resetting procedure. To reset both the Belt Check system indicator and the Drive Belt Failure Detection system, follow these procedures:

If the Belt Check indicator light is illuminated or blinking, first check the condition of the belt. Following the procedures in the

service manual applicable to the model being serviced, inspect and replace the drive belt as necessary. Once the drive belt has been inspected,

the Belt Check/Drive Belt Failure Detection system must be reset. Use the instructions that follow to reset the system.

that's too bad, thought i found what you needed ... checked on kawasakiatv.com

there might be more info from that site, but when i saw this i thought it was just what the good doctor ordered. i don't have any more info or manuals pertaining to your bike either. why in hell they would publish a manual without pertinent information is beyond me. i checked thru manuals i did have from 2003 up to 2008 without a mention of resetting the light.... i'll keep an eye on anything i see for you
