Textron, Arctic Cat merger

Recommended Posts

Since Arctic Cat sold to Textron, there has definitely been some changes on a few things. Just before this happened i saw some 4 wheelers at a dealer that i had never seen before and had to drop by and see them. They were made by Textron and called the Onslaught, it had a 550 engine (single cylinder i think) and were made in Taiwan.  Now that the two companies have merged i can't find the Onslaught ATV anymore, and now both Textron and AC are making the WIldcat and the Alterra but i keep hearing and reading that they have the same engines as one another but different frames.    Surely someone knows more about this situation than i do, what can you tell me?

When I heard of the merger I pulled the trigger and replaced my girls quad with a 2017 Alterra. We kept her 2010 366 is a backup machine. I wanted to see what would happen after the merger. So far they are doing good. My local dealer has sold more machines because they changed the pricing to make them more competitive. That 2017 Alterra 400 I got for $4500, thats hard to beat (and that is not a sale price)

They are keeping the plant open and I heard they plan to expand it, so that is a good thing, I hear they want to produce more engines from the facility.

Have a 1998 AC 300 2x4, Just installed a new carburetor. Engine starts easy but the choke RPMs are very hi and take along time (5-10 mins when cold out). After engine has warmed up choke releases and it idles and runs fine., It does no have an electric choke. The choke lever is never used and it seems like an auto choke? Long story short, how can I lower the choke rpm levels?

Also, carb came with a spare145 jet, not 100% sure what is installed. Could this impact choke RPMs?

Any help and information greatly appreciated.

I have a 2016 Arctic Cat 500 and recently noticed some oil leaking on the engine block to the right of the oil filter. It's near two metal lines going in and out of the engine block. I think one of the lines is called an engine oil line. I have a photo I'm going to try and attach. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to start tearing into the engine if I don't have to. I think maybe a gasket or something blew around one of these lines. The ATV runs fine otherwise. Doesn't overheat or anything.

If you had to choose one mod that you couldn't live without, or had to recommend one what would it be?

      Hello All
I'm kinda new to ATVs. I just bought a 1987 Suzuki quad runner 230 Dual Range. I'm having a problem finding info on it. It's very clean, only 2.800 miles. The front wheels are only 30 in.center to center. I was thinking about adding wheel spacers to give it more stability. I realize the added stress on ball joints and bearings. I'm wondering if there are any other concerns? Any input is greatly appreciated!
