I pulled my Old Suzuki Ozark 250 out of the shed after 4 years. The tank wasn’t ran dry so I drained it and cleaned the carb without taking it off(per the can). The bike fired right up and runs. It idles perfect and runs smooth on flat terrain.

My problem starts when the ATV is not level and I’m riding. It starts sputtering, spitting, and occasional back fire like it’s not getting enough fuel... if I go down a hill it usually dies off. If I try crossing a stream and go down the bank spit and sputter. In the stream it’s fine. When you go to ascend looses power.

Any suggestions?

Its sounds like your carb bowl might be running dry. If its been sitting for a while, there's a chance that the carb float pin is a little sticky.

Why would it not run dry on idle and stall out or when I’m driving the bike on flat terrain?

I would say if you can go full throttle on flat terrain it's getting gas. But @quadmaniac has a point because a similar scenario happened on my bayou years ago when I had it. The float pin developed some corrosion and didn't move freely. It would start but die on higher throttle. I don't recall inclined though but in theory it could be possible.

Makes sense, I was just curious. I can get to WOT but when I change inclines it starts sputtering like it’s not getting enough fuel.

Are these good quads.  I'm doing some work on one now for a friend who doesn't use it much and might buy it.  Having some electrical issues as none of the lights work so any hints on troubleshooting that would be appreciated.   Starter needs new brushes but I can handle that. Runs goof.  Any ideas on a fair price?  It's a 2005 I think.

Could there be a wire somewhere that's swinging around and shorting, or disconnecting when the bike's on an incline ?

I've seen the similar symptom before, except when cornering.. several times actually.

Loose battery...

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?

I just bought a 1984 Suzuki LT185 ATV and am looking for the OWNER’S manual. ( not a service manual)
I contacted Suzuki Canada but they have no paper or digital copies in their archives.
Does anyone possibly have a digital copy they’d be willing to share?

Just picked up an 84 LT185 ATV, I understand there was an accessory add  on that gave it electric start, anyone have any info about that kit?

I am looking for a PDF version of a manual for a Suzuki Quadrunner 250.  I am not sure of the year, but believe it is a late 1990s model.
