2000 Polaris Sportsman 500 Issues

Recommended Posts

I am so glad that I found this site! I have a 2000 Sportsman 500 4X4 and have a couple issues.  The biggest one is that the gear selector mounting bolts to the frame have vibrated loose and I can't find the size that I need on any website.  I do not have any of the bottom bolts or the two side bolts to go off of.  The entire gear selector has come off the frame but is still connected to the shifter linkages.  Second issue is that it wants to turn left and is very hard to steer.  I cannot find anything bent.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

having an issue with the unit when running under a load up a hill or in high gear, seems like the belt is slipping, there is a clapping sound coming from the primary clutch like it releases and snaps back in. i don't think I should have a noise like that. this is a friends unit and he has already replaced the primary twice with the same result.
not sure where to look next

      Hi,
Got a Big Boss produced 2016 YM 2017 that gives DTC 520 285 2 (random)
What I understand is correlation code for brakesensors, very little information in workshop manual.
Removed front plastic to discover that no connector was mounted on the brake pressure switch!?
The only "brake" information seems to come from the micro switch at the brake lever.
Does anyone know if Polaris does anything special on the 6x6 or had this issue?

I plan on using my ATV to hunt. What have you found to be the best method for carrying your rifle that is secure and allows removing quickly to pursue an animal?

Sorry I suck at these forums so if you see this submitted under update status, my bad. Anyhow this is a new shock for a 96 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4 it fits my 96 Yamaha Timberwolf 250 4x4 perfectly. Little narrower are the bottom than the original but everything else is perfect. I extended it to almost a half in from full extension because I’m pushing 350 pounds.  It rides and hold me well. So if any of y'allRace driven shock. have been looking for one and didn’t want to do the research here it is.
