1989 Big Bear 350 4x4 timing

Hello guys,

I inherited a 89 Big Bear 350 4x4 and it does not run very well. Carb is very dirty, I'm pretty sure it causes the hard idling and stalling. I haven't had time to clean it but just before leaving my garage I decided to check the timing. At TDC, it seems a little off, like less than 1 tooth. Can this also be a cause the hard idling and stalling?

Thanks

Mike

I think that the timing is ok based on that pic.

I would really break the carburetor down and clean it good. It has to soak and use a fine piece of wire to clean the jets out.  A piece of a bicycle brake cable works well in the jets.

Have some air ready to blow out each jet/passageway you clean to make sure the path is open in the carb.

A small can of that air people use for cleaning keyboards is great.

A lot of people say they cleaned the carb good only to go back and do it again so make sure you do it right the first time.

The air fuel mixture should be 2-3/4 maybe 2-1/2 turns out from a snug position.

I think if you start there and see how the bike runs would be a good way to go with a fresh spark plug.  Also lastly make sure the tank is clean and the shutoff valve is clean.

      Hey I have a 1997 big bear 350 4x4
I replaced the shifter shaft and the shift arm linkage and the rod when I installed them all I was unaware that you had to line the dot on the shifter shaft with the gap on the linkage arm gap put it all back  together and rode it I can't get it to shift in the right gears  I can move the shift cam by hand and goes in different gears but with the shifter shaft in it riding I can't put it in R or N
Anyone know how to line up the shifter shaft and the shift cam s

Hello I’m new here and was wondering is anyone knew of good replacement part numbers for front struts and rear shocks for this atv? I think I’ve found a new rear shock, that looks like the original but there is no dimensions or anything and was wondering if there are any afterMarket new front struts available. I know it’s a long shot but any help would be appreciated.

      Hi guys
My 87 Bear 350 won't start and could use a hand.
Turn key on and Oil light turns on and then slowly fades out. (I think this is key to this) No start, not even a tick.
      battery and connections good
A Solenoid post jump turns it over
Neutral Safety Switch wire attached and seems good
It has not had a wire/switch on Rear Brake Pedal ever since I had it.
Any thoughts on some other things to troubleshoot this??

      Hello,
I was able to repair most of the little problems on my 2006 BRUIN. I still have little things to do...
I changed the Hazard light Switch because it was not locking when pushed and now it is not working at all. When I connect it (not sure of the wiring -4 wires but a lot of connection possible on this HELLA 3916-01 switch-) the flashing lights button (on the handlebar) is acting like the Hazard light switch.
