Little history, when it would get hot it would loose power, backfire and quit. Let it sit for an hour and it would crank right up, that is why I suspect the coil is bad. It ran when I brought it home from hunting but now the starter isn’t working thus I’m thinking relay or fuse. Engine will turn over with pull start but won’t start. Also the winch solenoid just clicks but winch won’t work. I’ve replaced the rear axles, wheel bearings, brakes, ignition switch, tires carb rebuild and other stuff and I’m frustrated and tired of working on it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Easy check for a bad coil is when it is hot, pull the plug and check spark.  bad plug can be the issue. Is it getting too hot? Like fan not running?

Under the seat is the solenoid for the starter, jump it with a screwdriver to see if the starter turns.

If you have a battery jump box, disconnect winch and apply power directly to it to see if the winch itself is working. If it is, its the winch solenoid that is bad.

      Hi all,
      Looking for some help on a starter/bendix issue. Can Am outlander 450 2017. While cranking to start, the starter spins and engages into the ring gear. After a few seconds the bendix retracts while still spinning and there is no damaged teeth on the drive pulley.

      I have a 1997 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4. It used to start right up. Then all of a sudden it wouldn't crank. I have a schematic for it so I started tracing the problem. I had no power at the starter solenoid. According to the schematic the power comes from the neutral switch and through the starter circuit cut out relay. I cannot locate the cut out relay on this machine.. If I apply power to the relay it will crank with the start button.
      The neutral switch is hard to get to with all the brackets on this thing. I did find out from all my research that if I apply the rear brake lever it will start.
      Does anybody know if the cut out relay exists and where it might be found?

      Does anyone know forsure if u can swap out the Crank Case on a 2001 kawasaki Lakota 300 sport  with a kawasaki Bayou 300 Im seeing yes and no all over some say the mounting position is different so you can't swap the cases but everyother inernal engine part you can swap then im seeing no problem bolts right on can someone plz clarify who knows forsure

      Maybe someone has the answer to correct a long cranking but did start after maybe 10 seconds?
      Temp was mid 70's, with ATV not run for maybe a month but on battery maintainer with full bat charge noted.  The atv started, but then died a couple times after repeated attempts.  But when run awhile everything was ok.  Although when starting now I do hear the fuel pump humming but seems to take a few ,"long" seconds before full prime pressure.
      Is this typical of a failing fuel pump?
      I've priced a replacement fuel pump on eBay for less than $40 so am tempted to simply replace it for good PM.  Just had all covers off so looks really easy to replace.
      Any ideas?

      1990 fourtrax 300 no power no lights

      I have a 1990 Honda fourtrax 300 2x4
      I rode the other day for 30-45 min. Switched it off and now it is completely dead..
      battery is fully charged, fuses are good . WILL NOT TURN OVER ,
      headlights won't turn on , No neutral, reverse or oil temp lights . Electrically it is completely dead !!! I replaced the key switch and CDI box , STILL NOTHING.
      I bypassed the neutral safety switch and grounded it to the battery and still nothing !! I used a jumper wire on the starter Solenoid , the motor will turn over but not start . I even bypassed both fuses and straight wired it to see if I could get a neutral light or headlights still nothing . What could it be ?
