Mods for a 220 Bayou?

Recommended Posts

So I've owned my first ever ATV for roughly 48 hours and I'm already testing the limits of my Google-Fu on mods and accessories for it. I have a '00 Kawasaki Bayou 220 that I'm getting running and plan on using it for camping and hunting trips in northern Idaho. Other than the obvious: winch and a gun rack (actually won one a couple years ago and still have it!), is there any suggestions or recommendations anyone can give?

One thing I'm considering is the Rotopax 2gal fuel can and the 2 gal first aid/survival can just cause I like being prepared, though I'm not sure it'd be necessary as I carry everything I need, minus fuel, in a day-pack whenever I'm in the woods. Any thoughts on the Rotopax? or other small fuel cans?

I would get a rear storage bag and load it up! I would equip the bike with a 12v accessory plug for a cigarette lighter type plug for a tire compressor and a USB port to charge the phone, a tire plug kit, and a jumper pack, spark plugs  and a small socket set. Electrical tester and flashlight, small shovel.

Tow straps and a good rope. Always good to keep a snatch block as well and a few bottles of water.

Thanks for the recommendations. I like the idea of the 12v and usb outlets! Just got back from errands and had stopped by Harbinger Fright to pick up a few sale items for the bayou: 20' tow/recovery strap, tie down ratchets, digital air gauge, tire plug kit, and some engine degreaser. I may take the tire plug kit back as I just found out AutoZone has a kit that comes with CO2(?) cartridges for re-inflating for $20. Saves room and I have a large compressor in my garage. I have a heavy duty plastic tool box I was thinking of bolting to the back rack, but I use it to haul my chain saw and come-along (which will be with the bike until I get a winch. lol

All in all, a decent start to equipping it before I take it out on it's maiden voyage.

What's the best kids atv out there? I've seen everything from the ones released by the major manufacturers to all those knock offs. Kawasaki has a KFX 50 that is pretty nice for under $1800...

Anyone purchase or check out Rockymtnatv lately? Well I was just browsing over there and they have a pretty cool section called Ten Dollars Or Less. Some interesting things to check out if you are in the market.

Hello, im looking for some input on this situation i have. My 94 Mojave has no spark, and i have no idea what it is. Ive replaced/tested the magneto, the pickup coil, cdi, the ignition coil. Even the key and Killswitch. I haven't tested the harness its self, but i have tried another harness and still nothing. The only thing i can think of is the fly wheel itself. I have found a lot of metal shavings in the fly wheel and have cleaned it the best I could. But nothing happened afterwards. I am truly stumped here and hoping some of yous could shed some knowledge/ideas that could help get this thing to fire.

Wiring shows White and Brown to solenoid blades. Then a black wire from starter circuit relay to solenoid. I am confused,  where is that black wire supposed to connect?
      Thanks for any help
