I hace a 2002 polaris 700 sportsman, it has a knock coming from the top end. It will run but no power at all. I took the valve cover off and three out of the four rockers have a lot of play in them when tdc. I mean there is like a quarter inch play between rocker and valve.  Does this mean all three lifters are bad?

Have you checked  the timing is lined up and has not jumped a few teeth on the sprocket. Your going to have to bring the flywheel to the T mark and then expose the sprocket on the top end so you can see the marks that line up the timing.  Just make sure you verify the flywheel is on the T mark. Sometimes it can be deceiving due to other marks on the flywheel.

No I have not checked the timing. I turned the motor by hand and all the rockers move up and down but three out of four will have that slop when tdc. Didn't think it would jump time being it's a sprocket but will check to verity.

Would the oil pressure have anything to do with this. There is no oil pressure gauge on this but the is a plug and was thinking of making up a gauge to fit in it and see where it's at.

If you have hydraulic lifters then no there would not be a timing chain. I was assuming based on the bike. If that’s the case then it would possibly be collapsed lifters.

Oil pressure would not be a reason for that kind of slack but you still need to make sure it’s pumping to the head.

I am new to this site. I have a 1987 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport I think. Is there a difference between quadsport and quadrunner?

Have you ever been on the trail and your tire valve goes bad. No way to break down the wheel and replace it. A lot of you probably know about this already i had heard of it but never used one. Just punch out the old one insert and tighten down the nut

Does anyone have a recommendation of a really Heavy Duty ATV cover. I have bought several and they do keep the water off somewhat, but they are very thin and do not contour with the shape very well and water pools up in the rack louvers. I think i may be looking for a heavy canvas one, if anyone has a recommendation it would be greatly appreciated.

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.
