Got a 99 or 2000 bayou 220. Its started making alot of noise, then the starter would spin freely. Took it apart and determined the three bolts in the starter clutch had sheared. Installed the new starter clutch and in the process, not realizing that Japanese motors turn counterclockwise, I turned the crankshaft clockwise about a half revolution so that the key holes would be on top of the crankshaft for easier installation of starter clutch. I get everything back together and try it. The pressure is so great that its very hard to pull with the pull start, the electric starter turns it over but it struggles greatly. A key issue could be this. When I engage the choke the starter will barely turn it over and you can't pull start at all because there's so much pressure. Like the back pressure cant be released once the carburetor is choked. I'm pretty sure by turning the crankshaft clockwise I screwed something up but I cannot figure out what it is. If there's anyone that can give some advice it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. With the holidays going on I haven't been able to mess with it. I can say that it turns very free when I release the compression release lever but still doesn't crank. I really think that I threw something off when I turned the motor clockwise but I can't figure out what it was.

Did you install the starter clutch the right way?
Spinning the engine backwards a bit like you said should not do any damage.

Pull the oil dipstick and check oil level to see if its really high and smell the oil. Curious if it smells like gas, drain and change it if need be.

lastly If none of this works i would take the valve cover off and take a look at the valves and decompression release. Look at the cam on the side and see if there is a small spring on the cam.

Yesterday I got a UForce 1000 as my first bike and I am wondering if there are any owners that could advise where I can find budget parts and accessories for it.
I tried looking StarknightMT, but the filtering is a bit unreliable, so direct links or exact names are much appreciated.
I'm mostly interested in sliders and side cases, but any advices for "must haves" are welcomed.
      Thank you!

      Hi all,
Looking for some help on a starter/bendix issue. Can Am outlander 450 2017. While cranking to start, the starter spins and engages into the ring gear. After a few seconds the bendix retracts while still spinning and there is no damaged teeth on the drive pulley.

      Good day everyone!
I am pretty new to ATV/UTV/Small engine repairs and would like input on your absolute must-have specialty tools for maintenance and repairs. Aside from the obvious wrenches and sockets, what are some more specialty type tools you use for troubleshooting? I don't plan to open a repair shop or anything, I just do this as a hobby. Looking forward to your responses!
