So the compression on this little quad came up to 90 psi. I squirted a little bit of oil into the plug hole and it came up to 110. Now, I'm having an issue with it not wanting to rev up. It starts ok, but if I turn off the choke it dies. With the choke on, it doesn't want to rev up. I cleaned the carb and replaced the pilot jet. Is the problem the compression, the carb, or both?

How old is the quad, do you think its tired and the rings are worn? Is it smoking at all? With the choke on its getting more fuel, with it off its a bit starved. Is there an air fuel mixture screw maybe not set correctly? Sounds carb/fuel mixture related.

Its a 2006. Someone had the carb apart and it looks like the beat the fire out of it. The brass float, on one side, is kinda caved in, and the little tube that is connected to the choke is bent. LOL When it starts it doesn't smoke. I took the carb apart again and it looked like the float was out of adjustment. It was binding up when it went down so it wouldn't let fuel in. I bent the tab a bit where it seemed to move a bit more freely. I put it back on and started it, gas was coming out the overflow, but it still dies out. So, I wasn't sure if it was a fuel problem or something else. So I got it to run again and kept hitting it with a small shot of ether and as long as I did that, it would stay running. So, it seems it's def a fuel flow problem. I checked on ebay for a carb, but found nothing. So...

Ebay has some chinese universals that may work. I see the lt50s all over the place even amazon but not the quadsport carbs. Not sure if the same carb. What year is it?

I'm not kidding, but a week or so ago, at 4am I was awake (as usual) and thinking about this thing. It dawned on my to check the bowl vent tube. Yep it was plugged up. I cleared it out and away it went! Sometimes it's just a simple thing.

Hi all. I have a timberwolf 250 2nd that will not start.. I thought it was out of time bc the guy I got it from said it just quit on him. The tensioner had a nut welded to it and it was like2 teeth off. I installed new tensioner and chain and it still will not start. It has fire and it will not hit off brake cleaner. It has compression. Haven't put a gauge but I'm sure it will crank and run with what it has. I double checked my work and it's still in time. Spot on. Both valves move. I'm about to put a feeler gauge on them and I'll cone back but other than that any ideas?

on my honda trx 500 we have no power to the ignition switch for starting or ignition
we have lights and horn working
      all fuses are fine
have traced through the harness and cant find any broken wires or bad connections
from what we have gathered so far the pgm fi unit is not sending any power to the fuel pump relay to power everything up.
if we put power direct to the ignition switch plug then everything works but wth the key in the off position.
does this sound like a faulty pgm fi unit?

      Hey everyone,
I’m having an issue with my 2021 Polaris Sportsman 570 – the engine keeps stalling after running for about 10–15 minutes. I’ve checked the air filter, spark plug, and fuel lines, but can’t seem to find the root of the problem. It starts up just fine, but then loses power suddenly.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue with this model/year? Would appreciate any advice or troubleshooting tips you’ve tried that worked. Thanks in advance for your help!

I picked up this ATV that had no spark. The previous owner said he was driving it and it died and would not start. He discovered it had no spark. He replaced the CDI and the coil with no luck. He got tired of it and I bought it. I replaced the stater and now it has strong spark. Now, it starts for a second or two then dies. It will not stay running. I have checked the timing and it is spot on. The valves are adjusted correctly. I see no warn issues with the cam. I put the original CDI and coil back on it. Same problem exists. Compression is at 65 psi (has decompression mechanism),
I took off the muffler in case the issue was clogged pipes. No change. I replaced the spark plug. No change. The carb was an aftermarket so I put a Niche carb on with no change. I bypassed the fuel pump and that did nothing to solve the problem.
I don't know if this is a carb issue or an ignition issue. I am looking around locally for an OEM carb to try out but not sure that will fix the problem.
Can anyone help me solve this problem. I am running out of ideas.
      Thank you for your time
      Bill

After i did my rebuild it seems to not want to shift well. I think the cable is alright, and when it does shift its nice and solid. I have to basically use my hand to shift and i have to pull or push it very far, like max travel, to get it to shift. I also tried adjusting the clutch set screw. Any ideas where to go next, or maybe i should just grab a new cable to try.
