1992 Honda Fourtrax 300 wiring

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I have a 92 fourtrex 300 2 wheel drive that has been out in the IN weather for about 10 years.   My main concern is mice and the wiring in it.   I have tried looking up the main harness on several parts places and for a 92 they don’t have that year.  I can find sets for 94.  Does anyone know if there are major differences between the years that would make the 94 not work on a 92?   Thanks.

Some online parts places will let you see what other models, the part you choose, will fit.

So you look up the part you think's right for your bike, then click on the link to see what other models it fits, and you can see if it does the later models, or models from other countries. That will tell you if they all share the same loom, even if the other/later models use a different number.

Thanks that might help.  The 2 years do have different PN’s but that will be something to look into.  Also trying to get enough posts that I can download the manuals for both years also to look at the schematics

I tried looking up your bike on a kiwi site but the wiring loom wasn't available.. so no link to compare them. Different models do quite often have different part numbers for different years or spec models, but when you check they are interchangeable..  I'd keep looking for a yanky dealer that will tell you what models the loom fits.

Or.. keep posting in here till you get permission to download. Comparing wiring diagrams though may not show you that the regulator for instance, has different plugs.. Or the ignition or stator..

I have a 1991 300trx and a 1992 trx and the wiring is not the same, the speedometer is not located at the same place (moved about 10cm and the 1992 have a cooling fan) other than that i havent noticed any difference, the cdi is in the same place, starter, alternator, charge regulator, handlebars is the same etc. If you call honda i dont think they can tell you if it works , they only see part numbers. My approach would be to try and start it and fix the wiring issues along the way.

My friends KQ 300 starts fine and runs, as soon as you put it in gear and try to accelerate its bucks and farts like crazy, not moving... I cleaned carb and it worked good for 1 day... now back to same problem.... could it be such as a bent valve????

Howdy y'all, I'm trying to fix a neighbors 2015 Brute Force 300. Came in with hard to start and won't idle except on choke issue. I pulled the carb and found the pilot jet as well as the emulsion tube partially clogged. Cleaned up everything, put it back together, still having issues...  It will start right up on choke and will also start off choke if you give it just a touch of throttle but it absolutely will not idle unless it's choked just a touch. Also, excuse my ignorance but I'm assuming the "dial" thingy attached to the carb that turns in and out is for setting idle??

I have been exploring all the options available, so many, its hard to choose. I have kind of narrowed it down to the Honda Pilot, Subaru Outback, and Kind of looking at the Outlander, although its a little small,  the new one is nice looking. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or gripes with any of these rides. I have driven Jeeps for the past 25  years and they have been great, but their price point has gotten to high. Expieriences good or bad would be helpful. Thanks!

Have a 1998 AC 300 2x4, Just installed a new carburetor. Engine starts easy but the choke RPMs are very hi and take along time (5-10 mins when cold out). After engine has warmed up choke releases and it idles and runs fine., It does no have an electric choke. The choke lever is never used and it seems like an auto choke? Long story short, how can I lower the choke rpm levels?

Also, carb came with a spare145 jet, not 100% sure what is installed. Could this impact choke RPMs?

Any help and information greatly appreciated.

I’m looking for a top end kit for a Yamaha. I would like to see how well the engine runs before spending $6-$7 hundred on oem. Niche has complete kits from $1-$2 hundred.  Anyone have experience with Niche or similar Chinese companies?
