I have a 1988 300 Honda FourTrax, All wheel drive. My brother and I were fixing up this quad. We put a brand new battery and fuses in and it was running fine until we put the quad into reverse. As soon as it was put into reverse all of the electrical cut out and power wasn't making it to the head unit anymore and both of the brand new fuses popped. We figured there might have been a short from the starter or solenoids, but they are all working properly. At this point we don't know where to start looking for where the short could be. I'm just wondering if anybody has had the same issue or knows of similar issues that could cause these electrical shorts?

Hi guys. First post, hope you can help. As above 1991 Honda fourtrax. Starting, running fine until a few weeks ago. Used primarily to put my ski boat in the garage (put 2" ball on front). Any way, had just backed boat into garage, turned off to crank trailer wheel down, when I went to restart got nothing. No neutral light, no headlights, no reverse light, would not turn over when start button pushed. It would crank and run when I jumped the contacts on the start relay. While running the neutral light will come on, although it is dim and flickers. Reverse light on when running and in reverse. What I have done to this point: 1. Used jumper cable to ground battery (-) terminal to engine block thinking ground wire from battery to engine may be bad. No neutral light, no start. 2. Applied 12 volts to start relay. Got a loud click like it was making contact. I didn't have the battery/starter cables connected to the relay, but I am assuming it would have cranked at that time. 3. Disconnected neutral switch wire. Grounded neutral switch wire with jumper wire. No neutral light, no electric start. At this point I am thinking ignition switch vs broken wire in the harness going to the neutral switch (due to dimness and flickering when running). Any and all suggestions to help track down this issue are appreciated. Thanks

So I have a Honda Fourtrax 300 year 1988. The ignition doesn’t start it with no sound. The headlights won’t turn on. It has a brand new charged battery, fuses are good, oil is good, gas is good, reverse is rusted, it shifts good, won’t jumpstart but when you try it will turn over, it will start if you jump the solenoid give it gas and spray starter fluid on the breather but it won’t stay on long but will stay on for the little time it does by itself. I don’t know what’s wrong and I need help!

Can someone tell me if the wheel cylinders for the 1986 Honda Fourtrax TRX200 match other years and models? I can't find a 1986 wheel cylinder rebuild kit on the internet. I see a TRX250 and wondered if it was a match. Which models use the same caliper?

May be some of you guys can help me, I've got a 1990 honda four trax 2 wheel drive, the top end has been completely rebuilt. When I bought it barely ran, so I had everything redone BUT, it shifts good until the motor gets up to running temp and it starts getting hard to shift and the longer you run it the worse it gets, it will get so bad that it is almost impossible to get it into reverse. Does anyone know what wrong?

The trip meter reset to 0.0 and the clock flashing 1:00. The other function work normally gear shift, hourmeter and odometer. If i power off the bike for approx 2-5 seconds the clock and trip meter didnt reset. The battery is ok and all the fuse is ok. Can someone help me with this problem please. Immaculate original 1989 Honda TRX250R Quad Original condition with upgraded airbox and FMF exhaust (OEM airbag and exhaust included) Runs perfectly and is in amazing condition. If you're a 2-stroke guy, then you know the legendary 250R. Here is a prime example in original condition with original tires. Fewer than 20 hrs on the motor from new, I winterized and put in storage many years ago. Brought it out of storage, but fresh premix in and runs like the day put it away. Call Dave 54I-639-9I84 $4900

Took the honda out through some fairly deep water the other day and when I let off of the throttle the exhaust would backfire. After a few minutes it quit me. I let it sit a while and it started again. Drove it about 2 miles and it quit twice on the way back. Let it sit a day and it seems to run just fine again. Im sure something got wet, just wondering what got wet and how to water proof it. Thanks

Going to pick up a 300 2 WD Fourtrax 2000 model I believe. Getting it Saturday for my nephew. The brakes are shot but I hear these things are indestructible. Anybody know of anything I should be on the lookout for? I'll be responsible for maintenance.

Newbee here and got a few questions for ya! I'm working on honda 70 and looking to find some aftermarket parts for it without going to local honda shop and spending a fortune. lol I race karts here in NC and going to make a pit bike to ride around on and just wanting to hop it up a little.Just wandering if anyone knows where I could find a aftermarket cam with more grunt than a stock cam? My plans so far is to do some port'n and polishing on the head, boring out the cylinder and put'n in a little bigger piston. Can I get a piston and rings lets say .020 to .030 over? Also has anyone ever milled the head down for more cc's on these little motors? Would there be enough valve clearance if you did? Any help or advise would greatly appreciated! Thanks,,
