Hi everyone, first and foremost, I want to thank everyone for all the help I've received. I am so glad I found this community. I also wanna apologize if I'm spamming the forum, I come up with questions as I go, I guess lol. So when I got my Recon, the air box was missing the lid, held together by zip ties, and the filter was ripped and nasty. I have since ordered a new air box assembly. It comes with everything: the box, lid, and filter ( the insert and the foam), and all the hardware necessary. This is the first time I've seen a metal filter inside a foam filter lol. However, my question is, I have read that you have to oil these filters? Every time I read it, it was always skimmed over, and I could not remember where I had read it. Is there a certain oil needed for this? Is the filter washable and reusable? Do I just stick the filter in oil, lol? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question. Thanks in advance, y'all!

Hi guys, I was given a 2000 Honda Recon fourtrax 250 (I think that's the full name lol). The previous owner had it sitting for a while before I got it. It sat for another few years in my ownership. I got it up and going on its first test drive today!! I was wondering where everyone buys their parts from? Coming from the car community, we have sites like RockAuto and many more. Anything like that for quads? Also would like to be pointed in a direction, if possible, for plastics. I am missing a few and would like to have it complete. I appreciate any input!

Do these have Oil Filters? Just picked up a new Recon and excited to work on it. Here's the list: 1. Oil /Filter change 2. Gas Drain/refill with Fresh 3. Carb cleaning / Air filter cleaning 4. Troubleshooting: why reverse isn't engaging 5. Troubleshooting: why tail light isn't working. 6. Buy a new seat or cover. 7. Straighten bent front left fender(rollover?) 8. Buy a new battery hold-down strap

I also have a 2007 Honda Recon ES TRX250 I am wondering if the 2007 manual will work for the 2016 as well? I just purchased the 2016 and it didn’t come with a manual. Thanks for the help!

I have a honda recon 250 that i just bought. the compression is around 90 needs to be rebuilt. im getting into rebuilding it took apart the top end no problem except for the cylinder walls. as shown in the pictures. the way the piston sits in the cylinder is if you were sitting on the wheeler the skirt on the piston is left to right. so the wrist pin is front to back. which is where the two marks are in the cylinder. so that means the connecting rod is making the piston slap the cylinder on the wrist pin side which seems like a weird way for the cylinder to be moving. not natural. now the connecting rod has slight play left to right but not up and down. ive talked to a few people they say it might be the roller bearings in the connecting rod where it meets the crankshaft. but the play it has is not that much. im just looking for some more input before i start splitting the case.

I bought a 2003 Recon from a kid that beat it – all plastics cracked etc, When I replaced the rear brake the inside – axle, rear oil - were clean and in good shape, so I think Honda won the kid vs quad battle. It shifts a little clunky (I made the adjustment) and after riding for a while I get a hot friction material smell I wonder if he used the wrong oil and if any damage was done.

modding a Kolpin case mount for 2003 Recon
Tahj posted a topic in Hunting, Camping, & Outdoors Forum
When hunting I carry my rifle in a Kolpin or Flambeau case. My old Kolpin case won't fit any of the current mounts - so I made my own for it. The newer Kolpin case mount for the gun boot IV - the loop bracket, carries way to high to suit me. A simple mod fits my Recon TRX250T, and puts the case down along side the footrest. A piece of bedframe angle iron about a foot long, brings the loop way down-
