I am trying to resurrect the old fourtrax my dad bought in 87'. It starts and runs fine but there is an issue with the fan and oil temp light that is not covered by the service manual. The manual covers light not on and fan not on but not this issue. The problem is when you turn on the ignition the oil temp light comes on and so does fan but both stay on. Everything I read says the fan should not come on and the light should go off after a few seconds. I did a resistance check on oil temp sensor at room temp and get 10,500 ohms which is what the book says it should be. I haven't pulled it to check at 212°F or 338°F but that might be next depending on what you guys think/ might be the problem. Hoping someone else has fixed this issue before. It makes sense to me that if the sensor was low resistance the control would think "over heating and turn on light and blow fan" but with the resistance at 10,500 this doesn't make sense.

You could have a fan control module on this Honda that is failing. I'm not sure if the older ones actually had one but all the newer ones did. Something to check into...

Lots of owners add a manual switch for turning on/off the fan to bypass the auto system that can give trouble.

O3 sat a while. Engine is running fine. I got it into neutral, did some general tune-up and cleaning then pulled the shifter pedal up and it locked up and will not release into neutral again.  Does anyone have experience with this problem?  Thanks for looking and any help.

Hey, I'm thinking of upgrading my stock sport glide seat with memory foam as a bit of a project. I've seen how some guys use the heavy-duty padding inside the water repellent UTV seat cover fit Polaris Ranger XP 1000 crew for their UTV projects and wanted to try something similar for my bike.
Has anyone done a DIY foam upgrade and have any tips? What sort of foam density would people recommend, and how easy is it to remove and refit the factory seat cover over the new padding? Any advice gratefully received!

Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks

I am having an issue with a hs500. I bought it broken and have been trying to get it running. It seems to be starving for fuel. If I put my hand over the intake it will crank but will not run for very long because I'm not able to get the correct airflow with my hand. The things I have done so far are. Replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, mass airflow sensor, idle air adjuster, fuel injector, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the ecu, and still the same issue. I notice the injector does not spray when removed from the head. I dont know if that is common.

I am out of ideas on what to do next. I have removed the fuel line from the injector and it is getting plenty of fuel. If anyone has an idea on what could possibly be the issue I would be happy to try anything at this point.
