No. Not if it's meant to have, and been running ok on the 8.You should adjust/setup the carby.

Are you sure though this black plug is new ? Are you sure you don't have an ignition problem ? Why did you change the carby ?

Aftermarket carbies are never setup for any particular model, market, fuel or altitude range.. That are all generic tune that will work after a fashion for almost any bike they will fit on. It's generally best to repair/clean your old carby.

It's just slightly possible the new carb has a problem, or perhaps only needs some adjustments. Have you tried adjusting the idle mixture and speed ? How is the bike running ? How was the bike running before you changed the carby ?

Quite likely, if the new carb looks like an exact copy of the old carb, you can probably swap all the old jets over into the new carby, including the slide and needle, and the long brass tube the slide needle fits down into.. That will probably cure the problem... if it is a carb problem..

Apart from that you need to start re-tuning that new carb..

I generally opt for cleaning the old original carb and putting that back on when ever I hear these stories....

New carb is flooding ,black plugs, you need to dial in the fuel air mixture if you can, I v had some trouble dialing in aftermarkets . also if the air filter is not stock aftermarkets can be rather dense and cause some degree of flooding.

Gw's right.. check the air filter..  If foam elements have too much oil they restrict the air flow, and paper ones can swell and block in humid weather if they aren't being used.

Otherwise.. It's almost certainly the carby.

Too much fuel. In my experience thats what causes the carbon buildup. Never had the issue on an atv engine, but on cars, intake leaks from the intake, valves, and headgasket can also give you inconsistent fuel delivery. Just to give something more than carb(even though that's the most likely culprit)

HI everyone. New to this forum. I have 98 Kawasaki Bayou 400 with an apparent electrical issue. I have the Clymer manual, but I am not exactly sure where to start. The issue started a month ago and the neutral light would go on and off intermittently. Eventually it went completely off , and I thought it was a shifting issue. I took the case off and checked the clutch and all mechanical shifting components are good, so I think I eliminated that. The switch sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Last time I tried, I did hear a clicking sound near where the battery is right before the light went out. Does anyone have any ideas where to start? Hoping this is an easy fix.

Okay, so I have a 2002 Rubicon 500…bought it last year and it sat for several months until I put a new rear axle in, FINALLY got that done and was super excited to finally have my wheeler going, just to notice a strong gas odor. Popped the seat off and sure enough, pouring gas from the carb overflow. Fast forward a few more weeks and get the new carb and get it in, no leak! Yay. Except now I have no spark. 😒 I’ve tried another plug and checked and am getting no power to the coil pack. I’ve read and read and mostly what I’ve found is ECU, which is fine…but I like to exhaust all avenues before buying the more expensive parts just because I don’t wanna spend the money and it have ended up being something simple that I overlooked because I was trying to rush. 😂 I don’t know if it’s relevant, but I read on another post that someone had similar issues with theirs and it was the sensor on the side of the carb, just a thought since this literally happened after I put the new carb on. It also displays “- -“ on the display screen where it should show the gear position.

Hello folks, my machine wound up with I think water in the tank etc. It runs but speeds up and slows back down randomly. When not running I don't see gas dripping  from the drain nipple on bottom of float bowl and drain screw is closed tight. With normal idle speed I see no leaking. When the idle speed increases quite a bit on it's own, gas appears to start slowly dripping from float bowl drain nipple? I'm wondering if the carb is flooding and the gas is actually coming from higher up and just appears, to be coming out of nipple but, is actually running down the sides of the nipple? I put a kit in the factory Mikuni carb last year after sitting for a while and I think the gas in the jug I used had drawn moisture. I plan to pull the carb tomorrow and clean everything out. I was just curious if anyone else thinks it's probably something in the carb and is, acutally a flooding problem? Thanks Folks! 🙂

      Hello All
I have a 1987 Suzuki dual range 230 and a 96 bayou 220. I'm trying to figure what oil to use. I normally put Amzoil synthetic in most everything. But I understand there are concerns over the wet clutch. I've heard rotella 10w40 full synthetic,5w40 synthetic,10w30&40 non synthetic. I do live in Michigan, so temps cold and hot are encountered. It could be below zero or 90 degrees farenhight. I don't have manuals for them. Any help is greatly appreciated!
