500 Scrambler gas tank problem

I disassembled everything to remove carb and replace. My problem is there's a small plastic tubing that runs from top of tank to somewhere but, the other end came loose but I don't know where it goes. I know I have the hose on the gas cap but, the other one has me baffled the service manual doesn't show. Any help would be appreciated. 🙂

The hose in question is the one that's pushed into the groove on top of the tank. I'm thinking, it might serve the same purpose as the one coming out of the gas cap. Any thoughts on that? I'd just hate to put it back together and find out later, it had an important purpose as I'm in no hurry to take this all apart again LOL!

I got ahold of the guy I bought it from and he said that was just an overflow hose.

Correct, vent/ overflow , don't like it much , if you fill the tank too full fuel will come out this hose, it just kind of hangs down by the frame. kind of annoying when trailering with a full tank

I see, so what you're saying is when hauling it on trailor or truck, it can leak fuel out? Thanks. 🙂

I suppose, I could plug it if I wanted?

Yes it can leak fuel out , not much because the hose it so small, just enough to be annoying.
