I have owned my 84 Honda 200m for years now and I am wanting to see what i could do to upgrade horsepower , speed , performance , power etc and do it safely and not cause future harm to the engine.

I was thinking on getting a 200x piston, will this work and give a good power increase ?  I have heard people have done this in the past and it works great. and i was also thinking on a 200x cam , will the 200x cam fit in this engine and make a difference also does it require the upgrading of any other parts and will i have to run 91 octane instead of 87 ? has anybody run this setup before and got good results ?

I was also gonna go with a 200x carb but not sure if i have to buy an intake to hook it up or will it just bolt onto the 200m intake and fit fine ?

If anyone has any suggestions and advice on what i could do it would be greatly appreciated ! thanks in advance.

I've seen similar things done as such but not that old of a machine,if cam did fit you might have to do some filing as to piston. Jugs and pistons must match for correct ring gap, piston might fit in old jug but wouldn't allow rings to be properly seated, then before you do upgrades on top end make sure to chk bottom end I've seen cranks and rods twist, brake ,ect but other than that nothing ventured nothing gained learning what could be is half the venture.

hi, You can upgrade with XR200 bike parts, camshaft is a good thing by memory, increase your compression with 200x piston, porting your head a little bit and open a little exhaust is good, the best thing is port matching. increase your carburetor size to match with your intake and re-jetting. run with 91 octane is good. make sure that automatic timing advance is very clean and not loose, replace it if it needed, ensure your timing chain , tensioner and you chain follower is in good condition, that important.

its a good start i think

on my honda trx 500 we have no power to the ignition switch for starting or ignition
we have lights and horn working
      all fuses are fine
have traced through the harness and cant find any broken wires or bad connections
from what we have gathered so far the pgm fi unit is not sending any power to the fuel pump relay to power everything up.
if we put power direct to the ignition switch plug then everything works but wth the key in the off position.
does this sound like a faulty pgm fi unit?

Hey everyone, I just picked up a 91 trx350 4x4 with a blown top end. I don't know what happened to the poor thing but the cam journals that were round are oval shaped now. I also bought a running engine from a 92 trx350 4x4 to swap into the 91. Is there anything in particular I should be checking while the engine is out and I have good access to it and the frame?

      I have a 1990 Honda fourtrax 300 2x4
I rode the other day for 30-45 min. Switched it off and now it is completely dead..
battery is fully charged, fuses are good . WILL NOT TURN OVER ,
headlights won't turn on , No neutral, reverse or oil temp lights . Electrically it is completely dead !!! I replaced the key switch and CDI box , STILL NOTHING.
I bypassed the neutral safety switch and grounded it to the battery and still nothing !! I used a jumper wire on the starter Solenoid , the motor will turn over but not start . I even bypassed both fuses and straight wired it to see if I could get a neutral light or headlights still nothing . What could it be ?
