hi, You can upgrade with XR200 bike parts, camshaft is a good thing by memory, increase your compression with 200x piston, porting your head a little bit and open a little exhaust is good, the best thing is port matching. increase your carburetor size to match with your intake and re-jetting. run with 91 octane is good. make sure that automatic timing advance is very clean and not loose, replace it if it needed, ensure your timing chain , tensioner and you chain follower is in good condition, that important. its a good start i think

here some thing you can check, i dont know if this model have a '' idle air control valve '' but this thing gums up over times, clean it or replace it ( if you have it on this engine), next you can check or replace throttle position sensor, some time this (potentiometer) have a tiny hole in a trace somewhere between 1% and 10% and what is meaning to pcm is'' i have lost signal, a can't do anything without signal''. why this tiny hole? overtime the engine vibration use the carbon trace and make this sensor defect. this suggestion is made by logic and please, i am open to learn ! thnks!! the best thing to do is call a friend with an oscilloscope or take yours to back probe this sensor to show the signal in real time, here you can see if you lost your signal instantaneity within 0 to 5vdc.
