  1. Yes sir the key switch itself. Easy to check if you can get to back of it. With a multimeter or even a pen light. Should have a definite on off with light or voltage of some kind when switching the key to on or off.
  2. Yes sir. That book dude has lost touch, mech would be right on all things. Spot on
  3. I have seen this problem before and it ended up being the switch itself burnt out. Do what mech said and test all then test switch itself to see if you are getting power to it if so then look at switch for problem. Hope this helps
  4. Yes mech, exhaust could be blocked air has to go somewhere if not getting in or out. Just like when in high school putting a banana in a tail pipe. Or putting duels on a car for more air flow might be?
  5. You shouldn't pick sides just you know what you have no one else does. I myself don't care what people think I know me you know you they know them. But I have over 30 years of mechanical so doesn't matter. Just learning what you find out yourself is the better answer to all. I myself have come across allot of crap and people that always knows best but. You need to do you. Drs say I might eventually die. I'm only on here to help out since my body's giving up. Hope for the best for all . ✌️ I myself still learning!
  6. Sounds to me like bushing is biding somewhere at cover. Do you have washer before bushing and after?? Sounds like biding hard at this point could be around but seems by post
  7. Ok see if the air box inlet is clogged up or the filter is there should be and inlet that lets air to air filter behind air filter I have seen this problem many a times. Kids run em in mud then mud clogs air inlet a bit if when you take the air cover off it runs then you need more air for carburetor to do its job. Try running it without air filter. Maybe bad also. Carbs need the correct air fuel ratio to run. And it kinda looks this way. And mech don't let this fellow get under your skin. Sounds like he's reading from a book anyhow. Takes experience and it doesn't show. Y'all be safe.
  8. I would adjust the oil to seasons yes if real hot ,ask local mechanics in your area,I would ask a good shade tree mechanic because they would definitely know more than most dealers and for the most part was sent to school for a particular bike and not all bikes are particularly the same even two of the same make and model something will be different, just get out there and get grease on your hands and never give up. Like that old school house rock cartoons, knowledge is power. Have fun
  9. Yes sir, sitting on 11 acre's now with view of the hills of the Ozarks, with hunting club/ forest all around. Life is good, maybe a beer in my hand every now and then and my pipe with cheery tobacco can't beat it.
  10. I traded two quads and 100 dollars for a old 1976 ford school bus I'm fixing it up on side for a getaway look out there have seen many that you can get cheap and could live in it until you get something lots of property in the woods and mostly if people know you can work on them they will come, install solar on that bad boy and you got something. Good luck
  11. If bike is older CHK to make sure your frame is solid, especially around joints ,have seen some that looked ok but had gotten water inside of frame and rotted itself from inside out. Most likely from owner putting it intentionally in water all the time thinking it's a boat.
  12. Most likely what mech said is the o ring is gone ,but not to hard of a job to fix or expensive.
