Good morning riders! Just a quick thought...

I bought an old ATV from some kid that is missing plenty of parts and had alot of bandaids on it. It's a Suzuki quadsport lt230s. I really want to see this thing in it's former glory but some of the parts are really hard to find. One in particular that I'm having trouble finding is the trap inside the air box for the filter. Why is this part so hard to find? And why is it missing? Is there a replacement I can consider?

They  say that arctic cat use suzuki engines, and a lot of their air-boxes look like suzuki too..  Just saying !

Found it, looks like they made it from 85-88 i suspect parts will be hard to find on one made so few years 40 years ago, i would try Ebay first, but you may have to adapt things to get it running while you keep looking for original parts.

If part #3 is the one you are referring to, i had trouble finding that piece on one of the ones i was restoring, the newer style air filteers are self supporting, thats whaat i used on mine, you just have to find one the right length that will go in there and maybe make an adapter hose. May not be yours its a little newer.

Yes, it's the Number 3 part. Thanks for the help. Mine is an '85, so that looks like all the right pieces I have. Thanks for responding with that, I noticed I'm also missing 13 and 14. Explains why it doesn't quite fit right.

I looked several places 13 is not available, but 14 is a clamp you can still get it, but not much use without 13 .

Never knew that! I'll  Keep that in mind

They are very good engines, i have been very impressed with the 400, i havent worked on the 300 much but have never heard anything but good about them.
