New to me Quest 650 with the Rotax engine, auto trans. Looking at the starter solenoid there are the usual wires, Batt+ in and Batt+ out to starter and the 2 lil wires to the ign start button but there is a factory box with 2 lil wires coming out mounted to the frame next to it, one wire is connected to one of the large Batt terminals (12 o-clock position in pic). The other wire from the box is just dangling out in space. I can't find where that loose wire goes and what the **** the lil' box is. 😆 Need some insight please.

Im not really that familiar with the Quest , but the black box, i have never seen anything quite like it. I looked up the electrical components for that Quad and didnt see anything that looked like it.

Wonder if it is an add on relay housing of some sort.

Looking at the photos a little closer, it does not look like an add on, when i was looking up the electrics for the quest, there were several different models, i may not have looked up your exact model, it may be something to power an accessory thats no longer there since it runs good.

Only two wires..  Maybe a circuit breaker, but they are mostly in steel cases as far as I know.

I looked in two manuals, at the diagrams and the photos of around the battery.. nothing that looked right though..

But.. It does look well made and well mounted. You'd think it was genuine, or an accessory.

Regulator for heated handlebars perhaps ?

It's fully encapsulated in epoxy, and the wires and epoxy show heat damage.  The bracket it was on was also the solenoid mount, definitely factory installed.

I'm still voting that it's a Gov tracking device.  😎

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

I'm trying to help a buddy out with his bike (he's not really on the internet or familiar with these forums) and I'll admit that I am not super familiar with the transmission and clutches in these bikes. I owned a Brute a few years ago, but never had an issue like this that I had to troubleshoot.
So basically my buddy bought a group lot of 650's to build one good bike out of. He got it all put together and has it running but when he pushes on the throttle the clutch doesn't engage till the RPM's are quite high and even when its moving it doesn't really speed up, almost seems like its in "limp mode". He's tried 2 different transmissions so I don't think that's the problem.
Is there any adjustment on the clutch engagement? Anything else I can tell him to look at? Let me know if you need anymore information if you think you can help.

Hi my name is Greg and I just acquired a free 2000 yamaha kodiac 400 4x4 with the ultramatic transmission that does not run. I plan to get it going and use it around my property

Bought 4 wheeler for kids. Used to run and soon as it was put in gear it died. I have put new carburater, new plug and battery. The neutral light won't come on. I replaced the solenoid, then the positive battery cable and today put new relay assembly on. Still no neutral light. Not getting any juice and I don't know why.
