Hey guys I have a 99 xpress 300 and I'm having an issue, I rebuilt the engine and it will only start when I put my han over the intake on the car (when I manually choke it), I am not very familiar with plunger chokes.could some one help me understand how this choke is supposed to work and maybe how to ajust it so it works, thanks!

Hi. Well the choke works by sucking extra fuel up out of the float bowl when you pull the choke plunger out, either with a cable or a knob. It draws fuel up and mixes it with air then discharges it through a drilling that comes out between the butterfly and the engine. The fuel will only be drawn up though if the butterfly is fairly well closed. If you open the throttle/butterfly while cranking the cold engine the vacuum decreases and the fuel doesn't get lifted enough to get discharged into the engine. So it's important to have the throttle adjusted well closed off as far as possible, and not to use it till the engine has had a chance to be richened up by a few cranks.

That said.. Did the choke use to work before the engine work ? Are you sure the choke is the problem ? Could it have an air leak into the sump, either a seal or a gasket somewhere, or a leak at the manifold ? One indication of an air leak would be it not idling well, or not being able to adjust the idle mixture rich enough.

      Hi,
I have an 04 bear tracker, with a minor starting quirk. It starts in gear with brake in.  Neutral and Reverse lights work.
But when trying to start in neutral, there is no click or attempt to start with the push button.
However if i pull up on the shifter (not hard enough to shift into first though) the neutral light goes off and the start button works and it starts fine.
All gears shift fine with no issues,  has anyone seen this before?  Just wondering if it is a bad sensor or something needs adjusting.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I have a 99 kodiak 400 4x4 that blows a fuse under the back left fender as soon as you attempt to put a new one in even with the key turned off. I'm having a hard time finding any wiring diagrams that show what this is for. And I'm trying not to have to tear into the wire harness. Any help would be appreciated.

Hopefully someone can help me out, I purchased a 350 moto4 2wd while I'm trying to fix a dying honda. I can't see the vin number as there was damage and a bar has been welded where I think the vin should be, The decals say 350 moto4 Huntaway, it has the square gear change low, high, reverse up on the left of the handlebars and it has three rectangle lights up on the dash. after googling I'm struggling to find anything called huntaway, Any ideas? Thanks.

Hey everyone looking for a suggestion of where i can start looking. But first I'd like to explain what happened. Took the bike this morning got it started in 6 degrees celsius in 6-7 kicks? No choke. Drove 6km and when shifted to next gear bike decided to just shut off, stopped checked everything out seemed good, started first kick and on i went, drove maybe another 2km bike did same thing but this time it took me 10-15 kicks to get it started, on the third time after a kilometer decided not to start at all. Kicked it like a 450 a couple hundred times, nothing. So far checked gas is good, bypassed fuel filter and on/off valve to eliminate that problem, hot wired the kill switch in case something got corroded there. Nothing. Any suggestions would be welcomed. (Heard valve adjustment are a must do?)
