todays HIGH in Bend OR was +3.7f, that's -15.7c. didn't even make the news, cuz of NO power outages, NO traffic accidents, we are prepared for it. What is it with the northeast USA? Those ice storms happen every year and they are never proactive about it. That must be a total pain!

I have my own generator for power outages, 4KW [i doubt it'll start, will have to drain race gas from a

quad] but woodstoves in every building and plenty of firewood! All the high voltage lines are redundant so an outage usually lasts less than a second.

I went to town today and tried to get into my snowsuit; I got it on but I had to pee every ten minutes!hahaha the bibs MUST have shrunk in the dryer last time....yeah that's it! they shrunk!

All the crazy minivan moms were out completely unequipped and unprepared for subzero temps, SLICK roads, and slowed traffic. I thot this one 'humanoid' was trying to crawl right into the bed of my truck! She was so close I could only see the luggage rack....that is SO dense.....her minivan might scratch the paint on my chev K2500. It's up a couple inches and winter ready.

I WONDER WHERE ALL THOSE TOYOTA PRIUS' ARE NOW? I ASSUME THEY ARE ALL BACK IN SUNNY CALIFORNIA CUZ I DID NOT SEE A SINGLE ONE! hahahahaaha yeah a great winter car just like Honda's little 'smurf shoe' man they'll bury ya in that one! spozed to be colder tomorrow.....Look at the bright side...I have fridge space now cuz I can leave the beer on the porch as long as I bring it in before i lock up......

I bought a 1996 Sportsman 500 4x4 about a month ago, and I love it. Unfortunately, I've been experiencing a few problems with the high-range gear. The first problem is that the gear selector will intermittently pop out of high and into neutral. This problem will sometimes occur when starting from a stop and sometimes will also occur while at cruising speed. The last time this happened I stopped and put it back into gear, however, as soon as I tried to throttle the machine would die. I turned it on again with no problems put it back into high and it died again. Once again I turned it on with no problems put it into low instead and it worked fine with no problem. I drove in low down the road slowly for a little and then shifted back into high with no issues.
I plan on working on it this weekend and would just like some opinions or feedback from anyone who may have experienced these problems before. I'm very mechanically inclined but im unsure of exactly where to start as this is the first Polaris ATV that I've owned. Any feedback is appreciated and thanks in advance

So.. it a weird one.. The quad surges as you go down the road. By the looks of my tracks, it's one wheel only. High range, low range, 2 wd , 4 wd.. It just doesn't matter..
You can see in the pictures the marks it leaves. That was in a straight line, with hardly any acceleration.
      Any ideas?

I have a 97 Yamaha Timberwolf and it is beyond loud, is there any good options to silence them or at least make them bare able to drive. I know it has a crack in the exhaust pipe, but even with that fixed its still loud.
