Yes, a repair manual is a must, it has information that you need when working on a specific machine, important stuff like torque specs and such. The key components in a routine rebuild of a two stroke are piston, rings, cylinder hone or bore, crank seals, reeds, and ofcourse, all necessary gaskets. All this can be done without splitting the lower engine case. You will want to check the crank, connecting rod, and all the bearings that go with them. If any of those need replaced, you will need to split the case halves. You will also probably want to check the centrifugal clutch and the other components of the drive system.

torque i have can someone tell me how to get rings in cylinder without the correct tool

Are you asking how to put the piston in the cylinder after installing the rings? Or how to get the rings onto the piston?

There should be a line up dowel in the groove on the piston, make sure the gaps in the rings sit on either side of that dowel. Then you should be able to use your hands to pinch the rings in tight as you slide the cylinder back on over the piston, it isn't the easiest thing to do, but it can be done. I have done it several times, and I actually, think it is easier that using a ring compressor. I have one and unless I am working a car engine, I don't use it.

      Okay so I bought this 1997 sazuki king quad from a guy and he had it for a few years. 
      He had it registered and on the trails last year but he said it bogged and backfired when he would try to drive it. so it sat for a year. 
      I bought it for 800 bucks and got it running that night and it ran great for a few days 
      But I parked it the other night and went to start it again and it was really hard to fire up and when I did it was bogging and idling high then low again.
      So I took the carb out and cleaned it (ended up doing it twice because it was still doing the same thing) 
      Now today I have it running slightly better, but it is still like 20% 
      I have been looking it up and trying to figure it out but I can't find the issue, has anyone else had this problem? I'll attach a video of it running and giving some throttle

      I don't know if I shouldn't have posted but I this is my second post on this (other was in regionals Forum)  The family has a 2-up 2004 Artic Cat and a 2003 Polaris Sportman and we are looking for fun/easy rides in the Colville, WA area- 70 Miles North of Spokane WA, we have a small trailer we can haul these with but need to find some good areas for beginner.

      Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

      The family has two quads and have been asking where to ride around here- we are about 70 miles north of spokane and looking for places that are nice to go visit for beginners.
      We have a 2003 Polaris sportsman, and a 2004 Artic Cat 2-up (I forget the size)

      So.. it a weird one.. The quad surges as you go down the road. By the looks of my tracks, it's one wheel only. High range, low range, 2 wd , 4 wd.. It just doesn't matter.. 
      You can see in the pictures the marks it leaves. That was in a straight line, with hardly any acceleration. 
      Any ideas?

      The studs in the sprocket hub are stripped out. The hub is probably walloed out also. Probably will have to have a new sprocket hub. I doubt I have the ability nor the tools needed for this job. Thanks for all suggestions/opinions!
