2000 Suzuki Quadmaster 500 oil leak question.

2000 quad master 500 runs great but has developed a oil leak from a hole under the water pump. not a bad leak but a slow drip.

not sure what you are asking. is it engine oil or gear oil.

Oil seal on your water pump. That hole is there so you can tell if you have lost the seal on your water pump impeller shaft. The weep hole is sealed off from the water side, and from the oil side where the pump is driven from. Most of the time you will see the water side fail first and water will come out of that hole. But sometimes the oil seal fails and you see oil come out of the weep hole. Behind the impeller, you will see a mechanical seal first, then an oil seal. I would replcace them both. Inspect everything else for excessive wear as well.

I’ve got a 99 LTF 500 with a slow oil leak. Have you found leaks anywhere else besides on your machine? I thought maybe the oil plug was leaking. Changed the plug and washer to no avail. Still leaking oil from underneath somewhere. Is a slow leak for sure. I’ll have to inspect the water pump in mine also. Thanks for the info. Regards
