So haw many of you guys have an ignition point file in your tool box?

How many folks know what an ignition point file IS? Don't be ashamed- a lot of car techs don't know what that tool looks like...

It goes back to the days of ignition points- bikes and the like were the last to use them. It looks like an industrial finger nail file. Before CDI, if your bike started running rough, you'd pop the cover, file the points clean and then regap them- it usually made it run fine again. Some CDI are so tough to diagnose that often I long for the days of $4 ignition points instead of $400 CDIs.. not sure we went forward on that one! hahaha

hahaha yeah. I've seen plenty of them buried in that inch of crud in the bottom of tool boxes...

Yes ignition points are a bit out dated. I'm sure Ihave one of these somewhere though...

yup have several in my tool boxes ... i even still use them on a few on my rides and rides that i work on for people in my shop ...

I have one, but it gets used to spruce up the plugs now instead of the points.

i use it every once in a while on 1 of my old harleys that i still have points in .. and i also have a 1973 honda 250xl and it has points and so does a a honda 70 atc ... so i use mine from time 2 time ...
