It was cold and snowing but we decided to take a ride today.....typical end of may weather, snow and sunshine. ;D We had an experienced group so we did not stop very often for pictures.

We had to stop and shed some layers.

Half way up we made another stop. It was pretty neat to see the snow line from last night in the trees behind us.

Yes it is still cold.

Looks like a good place to stop for lunch. The fire felt great!!

We took a rocky trail to the top that we haven't been on in a few years....it was defiantly fun and awarded us with a partially blocked view due to the weather.

It looks like they logged this area of the trail recently.

We had a great trip, we rode a hard 30mi in everything from sun to snow.

I am ready for the next one.

I have a 2001 Yamaha Kodiak 400 (YFM400FWAN©) On a recent hunting trip a problem popped up and I hope someone else has experienced this, so that I can learn from them instead of going on my own hunt for an answer.
      The Problem:
On cold days (sub 25 degree) I choke the Kodiak and it starts instantly. It revs up and runs on "high idle" without any problem. However when I return the choke lever to its "normal" position the ATV continues to run and a very high idle. I cant put it into gear until the idle comes down, which it doesn't. In order to use the bike I have to shut it off and when I restart it I must place it into gear before the engine gets a chance to rev up. It then returns to a normal idle and the machine behaves normally. This only happens on real cold days but it is a problem I want to fix. Can anyone offer some help?

I'm new to the group and the ATV world.
I recently got a 2001 Kawasaki Lakota Sport 300 and i want to do some repairs. I want to start with the suspension and replace the bushings and joint balls.
Where can I get the service manual in PDF format?
      Thanks.

I'm new to the mechanics of riding. I've ridden quads and love it, but I've never really owned one of my own. I bought this quad in pretty rough shape and have been slowly restoring it. I'm almost ready to kick it over, but I'm doing a little research before i add fluids. I'm wondering what kind of oil i should use. I know the specs call for 10w40, but with the age and brand of my quad I'm curious to hear an experienced opinion. And since I'm just getting started with this forum, I don't have access to the service manuals yet. Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated! Thanks and happy riding!

I'm looking to upgrade to a bigger machine.  I only use my atv when deer hunting and maybe put 5 miles on it per day at most.  Current atv is a 2004 Kawasaki Bayou  250, 2WD, garage kept, nothing special and it still works great.  I'm wanting to upgrade so I can use a small disc for food plots.  I think the 570 would be perfect size.

Knowing the extent of my use, what are your thoughts on the Tracker (Textron) 570?  It's gets me into a bigger machine at a more affordable price than the big name brands.

      Thanks for the input!
