Kawasaki Bayou 300 spark problems

Hey guys im new to the forum, but i was at my girlfriends house and noticed an old quad on the side of her house, i said hey what are you doing with it? and she said ill help you load it on your truck so i found its a older kawi bayou 300 2wd, seems like a nice quad, ive always had quads since i was little and wouldnt mind adding one to the collection, its been sitting for about 5 years? it rolls good, tires are kind of holding air, no battery but i rigged a car battery on it, i can get the starter to spin but the spark plug wont fire, is this common on them? i have no idea what year it is, anyway to find out? but the coil is getting power, what else should i inspect/replace, i dont want to go crazy on it, its not in the best shape, if its something big ill just part it out or just sell it, its seems like it would be fun, but just need some advice! thank you!

you can find what year if the sticker or plate is still there on the lower frame tube, to the left of the engine

A1 = 1986

A2 = 1987

A3 = 1988

how's the plug wire or plug itself?

what do the rest of the wires/wiring look like on the bike? spliced/taped/off?

my 91 big bear had no spark, it needed a new stator... (but the guy told me that straight out when i bought it from him)

i had to fix up quite a few wires too, alot were bared, broken...

i just did a full rebuild on a bayou 300, i had the same trouble with mine. i got it from a guy that had it sitting behind his house for a few years, i had to replace the CDI box and the voltage reg, they went bad over time i guess, if you need any help let me know.

i found out what year mine was by running the vin online, it's a 98 bayou 300 B11

I just read this post,I have a 94 klf 400.no spark at all.was running great then it died. waited a few minutes it would start. sometime it would run then stop reving to higher rpm.what do you think?

had the same trouble with mine, had to replace the coil, cdi box and voltage regulater. works great now. if you replace the cdi box you have to replace the voltage reg to. its often the reason the cdi gos bad. you can git one on ebay $100.00 or so. voltage reg $80.00 or so.
