Sorry I suck at these forums so if you see this submitted under update status, my bad. Anyhow this is a new shock for a 96 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4 it fits my 96 Yamaha Timberwolf 250 4x4 perfectly. Little narrower are the bottom than the original but everything else is perfect. I extended it to almost a half in from full extension because I’m pushing 350 pounds.  It rides and hold me well. So if any of y'allRace driven shock. have been looking for one and didn’t want to do the research here it is.

1996 4x4 Timberwolf rearend width. Can someone with some knowledge of these machines answer this question for me please. Are all 4x4 timberwolves this narrow in the rearend? These tires are so close the right one actually rubs the muffler.  Thinking about seeing if there are any spacers out there for it. I need at least an inch more clearance.

I'm assuming, it's alright to test the engine after adjusting valves without the rear axle installed? Can someone please verify this? I'm waiting on axle parts and wanting to get that done while waiting. Thanks! 🙂

Hey all, I'm a 2-stroke quad/dirt bike guy, new to utility atvs. Just picked up a pretty clean looking 2005 Kodiak 450 4x4 with about 1,000 hours on it for my dad.

The first thing I noticed when we got home was oil leaking from a seal on the rear axle. Pictured below. I've been staring at this frigan Partzilla diagram for days and can't figure out what part this is. What is it and what likely needs replacing/fixing?

Also wouldn't mind any recommendations on the next things to check. The owner said nothing's been replaced on it but oil since it's been in service. Def needs new rear tires.

      Thanks all!

I’m pretty sure it’s an 01, that’s what it looks like based on some of the parts I’ve gotten for it already. I’ve been chasing a no spark since I got it, I bypassed the kill switch, I replaced the CDI, the voltage regulator, and the ignition coil. The battery is new, the headlights work so I know there is power leaving the battery. I’m not sure what else to do or check, I’m a heavy equipment mechanic but little a guy gf like this throws me for a loop, any help is definitely appreciated
