2005 Yamaha Raptor 80 Random Shut Off

:aargh: hi my name is diego am 13 years old ok so i would like to ask you guy somthing about my quad when ever he is righting it radomly shuts off dont know why but it dose and another thing is that we are going to mexico and i want to get it fixed befor i leave so when we got them they were sitting in a garage with gasolin in um an d if i tern it on and dont leave the gas running it will shut of do any off you have awsers to why this is happening thank you.

does it just stall?....can you start it right back up?......if it's just randomly stalling my guess would be fuel related, my 300 4x4 pings and stalls on low octane fuel.........a little more info i maybe able to point ya to a fix..... :)

      Hey all, BruinBeater here.  Just joined up from the Pittsburgh, PA area.
      Got a Polaris Sportsman 1000 and a 570 in the garage that don't get ridden quite enough but looking forward to a family trip this fall.
      I'm the unofficial mechanic of the extended family.  In the past month or so I've replaced a transmission in a Chevy Silverado, rust repair on a Chevy Malibu, electrical repair on a Subaru Crosstrek, overheating issue solved on a Can Am Commander, and right now I have a pair of Grizzly and a Bruin 350 in the garage.  Both have a no start condition and have been sitting for 2+ years.

      So now this "new to me" Kowhockey has ANOTHER problem. Replacing the rectifier cured the charging problem, rode around for a while, Yahoo!.. but this morning it wouldn't start, hmm 🤔 checking for spark, nuttin.. CDI igniter module bad. It's not the coil because when the key is turned off the spark knocks me down. Glad I got this old quad cheap because I'm replacing lots of electrical parts. Also found 3 blown fuses in the toolkit. 😭

      So.. it a weird one.. The quad surges as you go down the road. By the looks of my tracks, it's one wheel only. High range, low range, 2 wd , 4 wd.. It just doesn't matter.. 
      You can see in the pictures the marks it leaves. That was in a straight line, with hardly any acceleration. 
      Any ideas?

      another new guy.  have a Yamaha Kodiak 700 and Polaris 500HO. My brother has a couple of Polaris. Summer in northern Michigan and ride some in Michigans UP where we have a cabin in backwoods. New to quads last year as far as owning one. Have been a jeeper for many years and modified/built several so have some mechanical ability, pretty knowledgable electrically too. Initially started reading the forums to find out what others using for lubes and common issues, other maintenance etc.  Hopefully I can contribute.

      i currently have a 99 kodiak 400 and a 2021 honda pioneer 1000 and two 110 china atvs  , i have rode atvs for 20+ years and now am starting to fix up some for my kids
