Just a new question of opinion to assist a new rider. I want to get a 4 wheeler and my fist choice of the three is small project but my main concern is availability of parts. Option two would be used but then there is the problem with ATVs not knowing how to swim. Don't really want to but one that drowned and got mouth to mouth. Last would be new. Opinions and experiences welcome.

If you can go new and plan on keeping the ATV for a while then that would be the way to do it. You know the background behind the ATV and it should last you a long time.

If you are going to go used you mind as well get a project ATV, plan on replacing all the wear parts and make an offer that will account for the extra work you have to put into it. Check the frame and airbox to see if there is anything off. With the economy the way that it is the buyer has the advantage.

Whatever I get I plan on having for the long run. I think I'm going to get a project. I was looking at the Honda rancher. I lots of parts online so it shouldn't be hard to get one up and running. Plus I like the look of those better than say a bear tracker or foreman. Thanks for the advice!!

As long as the ATV is clean and not beat on, used is fine. Check comparable sales for the same year, make, model...to make sure you are getting a good price. You can use KBB.com to get ATV values as well.

So I found a 2005 Yamaha kodiak for $300 obo. The guy says it won't run. New piston but needs rings, gas tank and , plastics. I don't mind being a mechanic. That is another reason for getting into this. So the question is, if you were me..

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?

Yesterday I got a UForce 1000 as my first bike and I am wondering if there are any owners that could advise where I can find budget parts and accessories for it.
I tried looking StarknightMT, but the filtering is a bit unreliable, so direct links or exact names are much appreciated.
I'm mostly interested in sliders and side cases, but any advices for "must haves" are welcomed.
      Thank you!

Just picked up a 2006 Dvx400. There is a switch I can't figure out what it is or where it goes. Has 3 wires (light blue, black and Yellow)
