1994 Polaris Sportsman 400 4x4 - Does Not Run

I recently got a 94 Polaris sportsman 400 4x4 from a family member. It just quit on him and has not run in 5 months. I put new fuel in, cleaned the carb, new plug. There's fuel getting to it and a good spark but it will not fire. It will turn over but will not start and I'm lost. Please help.

Here is the service manual for your Sportsman 400, follow what it says and if you still have problems, post another topic on the problems your having.

Welcome to QUADCRAZY! Fuels and spark are the first things that I would check and it sounds like you have both. It might be a choke issue. Or it may still be a carb related issue. I would try spraying starting fluid into the intake and see if it catches, if it does, it's not getting fuel.

Thanks Ajmboy. Its running now, a little rough but running. I'm fairly sure the transmission is gone. It's not staying in gear, just pops out right away so now I'm going to take it apart and see what's up.

I know this is an old thread. I don't like to revive dead horses. But I have a 1994 400 2 stroke that seems to die when I put it in neutral but will run all day as long as it is in gear. I am guessing that it is an electrical gremlin, but I am not finding others talking about this issue. Is there anyone that has run into this issue before? Bad neutral switch or where I can find it?
