For the ATVing Community - Ownafide

Recommended Posts

My name is Kendall and I have something that's fairly sensitive to discuss, but if you read my entire post you will see that I, being a frequent forum user myself, fully understand forum etiquette and am fully respecting it.*

I own a tech company which I will not identify here, and so that my intentions are clear, my company's identity can only be seen by the moderators and owner who can see it by the extension on my email address to verify that my statements are legitimate. The benefit of the few users I could try to siphon with this single thread is very minimal to my company. Our intention is to create a long term relationship that we believe will be mutually beneficial for both this forum's owner, the community and ourselves. The only way our platform will be revealed is if the forum owner decides to allow the arrangement.

Now with that said, my company is a completely new kind of social platform that, while not replacing the hobby forum, does dramatically innovate certain aspects of it and therefore appeals to the same audience. Forums are for groups to speak together as a whole. Our platform is for people to create more engaging one-on-one relationships based upon similar activities, passions and interests. Unlike any other company making innovations in social networking, our platform was conceived one-hundred percent with diehard hobbyist in mind and will change the way hobbyists interact online. At the bottom of this post is a link to an anonymous Flickr image of our landing page, with blocked out names, to help explain our platform and so that you can see that this is something new and highly unique.

Over the next year my company will be visiting various conferences and expos for ATVing as well as other hobbies. We will also be advertising on many forums such as this one. The only problem is, our platform is designed for all hobbies, and we currently can only focus our budget towards*the most receptive hobby*communities. So it first needs to be established if the ATV community is one of those communities. If it is, we intend to advertise on this site and if that is all we end up doing, that is fine.*My strongest reason for approaching this forum, though, involves the forum owner and a potential partnership beyond a simple sponsorship of which we are confident will be well received. So if the forum owner will contact me we can discuss the matter further.

Eventually, one way or the other, many people in the ATV community will discover our company. But in the social space, the tone is often set by the earliest adopters, and we know that the forum community is the most upstanding and most knowledgeable kind of user to set the best tone within our own ATV community.*

I hope that this isn't seen as a typical attempt to spam and won't be automatically dismissed as something that should be kicked. I'm requesting that decision to be left to the forum owner after they have heard what we are proposing.*We want to be completely above board in our actions here, and once everything is revealed you will see that we are not a typical company in how radically and controversially pro-user and pro-fairness we are in our policies and practices.*

Ask me any questions other than my company's identity and I will answer as transparently as possible.

Well yes and no. FB is for the people you know. This is designed as user friendly as FB, but it is for people who you dont know but that you might like to know because you share many things in common with them. Kind of like if Pinterest was Facebook. We will also soon launch achievements which is like a video game style trophy system but for the activities within your favorite hobbies. Your already doing the activities, you would just credit and accolade for them.

      Hi All,

Looking forward to the new lifestyle. Bought my son a Blaster a couple of weeks ago. He was bored riding by himself so I picked up a 2004 Sportsman 600. Wow!! What a blast. Tore up the backyard yesterday playing cops and robbers. Got a few new paintball welts today. I am sending out a warning to all ATV riders in Wisconsin. We are new. And are we excited!!! Living the good life has no end.

My buddy and I took a week to go ATVing on some new trails in central Utah. The Arapeen Trail system in Utah is huge, and is broken down into the North End and the South End. I did the Southern End last fall. So my Buddy and I did the North End last week. :drivingc:

The weather was interesting … when I got up the first morning & checked out the temp, I found it was colder in my trailer than in the fridge of the trailer !! I used the furnace from then on out … :smilielol5c:

We did approx 236 miles of riding during the week. However, most of that was road riding …. But we still managed to have a great time. There were more people in the area than we liked & it was real dry & dusty with a lot of the dust being like talcum powder. AND, with little to no wind, the dust would just hang in the trees or small valleys …. So I got my fill of dirt that week !! :coolgleamAc:

We saw lots of game. Mostly deer, but we did see a few Elk and we saw a Red Tailed Hawk get his Rodent Lunch on the fly … it was pretty cool. I watched two crows give a Golden Eagle a tough time over a dead pot gut squirrel until the Eagle left … with empty talons. :shock2:

I really goofed up with the vids & pics however. I went to transfer the vids & pics from my cameras to an external hard drive I had taken (my laptop won’t handle HD videos) … but I forgot my transfer cables. And it seems my laptop didn’t like the SD cards. So I borrowed my buddies laptop, did the SD card transfer to the external hard drive thing. But when I got home & tried to transfer those files from the external hard drive to my PC, I get the message there are some bad sectors … and I’ve spent the last three days with several software programs trying to recover those files, but it appears it’s a “No-Go at this Station” !! And wouldn’t you know it, some of the vids I can’t recover are the best ones !!

Anyway, I put together a 10 minute vid & some photos of the trip with what I had that was good. And even then, 10 minutes does not do a weeklong trip justice !! :nopityc:

Here it is & I hope everyone enjoys the show ….... Oh yeah, make sure you change the video setting to 1080p & use the mid-sized screen. It looks pretty cool that way ... :cheers2c:

Just returned from a week long trip of AVTing in central Utah ... WHAT A FREAK'IN BLAST !!!
It rained six of the seven days & a couple days it was just a plain gully washer of a soak'in !! ... but NO BUGS !!!
My youngest brother, his wife & I where the only ones on this trip. My wife wasn't ready to give her new hip the abuse of rid'in all day long for six days ... my other brother & his wife backed out at the last minute ... damn their mangy hides !!!
Did some awesome riding, saw lots of deer & listened to the Elk bugling in the evenings.
Here's some video clips & a few pics of the ride. And these do not do this ride justice !!
      Enjoy ...

I have a Polaris Express 300 2 stroke. Finally got the engine running smooth with everything tweaked correctly on the carburetor.
I have now moved on to shifting the gears.
I have had this atv for a long time and high gear was always a pain in the ass to get to go into gear, reverse was okay and low was best.
You could always feel low go into gear.
A couple of months ago the spark plug cap went bad while I was trying to figure out the issue with shifting into high. At this time I put fresh gear oil in and never drained the old because it literally looked empty.
Fast forward to a couple of days ago. I finally got everything running but shifting into low you cant really hear grinding gears but it doesn't jerk like it used to when shifting into low and half the time it wouldn't shift fully.
Reverse would move but completely grinding, and high of course is still the pain in the ass.
All 3 gears when shifting into clicks like it got a good shift, not a click on the gears or anything, just a normal click that your in gear so I know I am not loose on the shifter rods.
I checked the gear oil and it was sort of milky, like barely and had bubbles. This means water is in it so i am going to drain the gear oil today.
What I am wondering is could the bad gear oil be the reason the gears aren't going in fully? I highly doubt it because of the symptoms with some gears grinding and others not going into gear at all like high.
Just need to know what the causes could possibly be.

Do any mods to your atv? Let's hear about it!!!

So I was looking at my John Deere today and though, how could I make this cooler. So I tinted the windows. Lol.
As I got home I was staring at my Polaris and the wife’s kfx. I thought I would have to replace the crank because of piston slap on the Polaris. Turns out I just had to adjust the choke cable a tad more. Runs great.
Why do we have insurance if we only need it sometimes, and that’s questionable.
