My story of the run around to get a Carry Permit!

I took my gun safety class back in June of this year in order to apply for a gun carry permit. Well finally mom is doing something for herself now that racing season for kido is done & I have a little extra cash in my pocket. MX racing costs so darn much!

So I went & waited at the driver’s license office for my number to be called. After waiting 37 minutes my number was called. I presented all my paperwork but there was a problem with the name of the class teacher so after several calls were made that got dealt with. (Really long story behind that deal) Then I paid my $115.00 cash. I then assumed I would be sent somewhere locally to go get my fingerprints done...but noooo you have to go home get on the computer, fill out information, select a location, & then pick an apt time. I want to take care of this now not go through all that. But I am old enough for my wants not to hurt me. So I am then asked to go sit back down & wait till my name is called for the picture part of my application. So I sit & wait another 22 minutes for the nice lady behind the camera to call my name. I sit down in the special chair & say CHEESE!

The lady was super nice & offered to let me see the picture & if I didn’t like it she would redo it. WOW, that was nice of her but luckily for the both of us it was a good one on the first try. So I get back in my car & drive back home to get on the computer to get my apt time & the place to have my fingerprints made for the application. I live right next to one of the larger cities in my area but lucky me & all the residence in my city we have to drive 2 cities further to have this done! Give me a break!!!!

So here in a bit I will load the family & drive about 25 miles one way to the location I have selected (which was my closest) & get this application completed.

Then when all that is done I just wait up to 90 days to get the permit but the kind lady at the DL office said the wait time has been around 3 weeks....Yay!

So that’s my story about the run around to get a Carry Permit in the state of TN.

Sweet !!!:yes:Its cool your gettin one !! I never carry unless I`m ridin out of my normal area or longer trips !!

I never really thought about carrying while riding but I could see having some extra protection in unknown areas.

I have never been into guns or worried about a carry permit until this year. But after being all over the Mid & Lower Eastern US this year & running into some characters I decided it was best to get one.

Supposedly there have been more landowners pulling rifles on atv riders in the eastern PA area. I think its because there are goon riders who dont care but also a big problem is that there is no real borders or property lines to differetiate private land from RAC land. Sometimes its hard to notice a single 8"x8" sign while trail riding at 50mph. Ive done it.

I cant get a carry permit in NY! Anyone know what type of pistol is good for a beginner? Sorry for the hijack!

I agree about the problem with no real borders laid clearly out for riders. I remember my son & I riding on our 400EX & I didnt see the sign no motorized vehicles beyond this point that was kind of out of the way. We ended up in someones cornfield & the owner came after us. Here I have my kid on the back. Scared the crap out of me. I had no idea where I was & I certainly would have never been on his property on purpose!

It really stinks about NY laws...no carry permit, but I guarantee every thug & criminal carries a weapon! Not a firearm....WEAPON!

I bought this handgun...its my first but wont be my last...LOL:wink:

Its a Phoenix Arms HP22A

Its not a knock down firearm but it will certainly hurt an intruder & buy me time to get away! It has 2 different safeties but the extra one near the hammer can be removed. Because of my son I chose this firearm for the extra safety, the ease of use, the size, & price.HP22AA13.JPG

Now my next handgun will be this:

TA247-40SSC-15.jpg

Ooops let me fix this typo.....Its a Tarus 380 automatic pistol. My father-in-law just got this little baby. Has no safety but it takes like 7 lbs of finger pressure to pull the trigger. Very nice, powerful, small enough to carry in your pocket, & has knock down power! Disclaimer: You are justified in using lethal force against another human being if, and only if, there is immediate and unavoidable danger of death or grave bodily harm to an innocent person.

If you have a permit to carry the you should carry all of the time. I even break my own rule but it is like a phone, the minute you forget it at home you need it.

I completely agree swampcat07! I will have to get use to carrying & then just like you said the minute we leave it behind something will happen...nice to know I share the same luck...LOL

I like people not knowing if I`m carrying

I agree with quadnut20 on this too! I DO NOT want people to know I am carrying! Even if I have the privilege to carry when you carry say on your hip in plain view at the grocery store it makes people very nervous & the next thing you know it the police are showing up at the store because they received multiple calls about a man or a women in the store with a gun. By the way true story.

I hate people sometimes! When I went to school in Nashville Tenn. one of the teachers there would carry and put his gun n holster on his desk. Being from NY i have never seen this before but felt quite safe as he was very cool and calm person.

That is unusual for sure! I could see why you felt safe.

Well got my permit in just 2 weeks & 4 days! Was shocked it came so fast. They said it could take up to 90 days. I am now a proud permit carrier

Also found that I need a smaller handgun...the one I have is to heavy for carrying around. So I am in the market for a new one

Any body have a part number for replacing the safety interlock on the left brake so you can start the engine with the brake handle pulled and in gear
or how to bypass this function so you can start in gear
      thanks ahead

Okay so I bought this 1997 sazuki king quad from a guy and he had it for a few years.
He had it registered and on the trails last year but he said it bogged and backfired when he would try to drive it. so it sat for a year.
I bought it for 800 bucks and got it running that night and it ran great for a few days
But I parked it the other night and went to start it again and it was really hard to fire up and when I did it was bogging and idling high then low again.
So I took the carb out and cleaned it (ended up doing it twice because it was still doing the same thing)
Now today I have it running slightly better, but it is still like 20%
I have been looking it up and trying to figure it out but I can't find the issue, has anyone else had this problem? I'll attach a video of it running and giving some throttle

The family has two quads and have been asking where to ride around here- we are about 70 miles north of spokane and looking for places that are nice to go visit for beginners.
We have a 2003 Polaris sportsman, and a 2004 Artic Cat 2-up (I forget the size)
