I recently purchased a 2000 polaris sportsman 500 h.o.

The first day I took it out for a ride I went about 10 minutes before the engine temperature light came on and I began to boil over out the reservoir.

What I have done:

The wiring harness that runs down the front two low beam lights and the fan connection wasnt showing any power at all. The lights I could careless about atm so I ran the fan directly to the battery using a fuse.

The fan is on full time now when riding, however I wasnt getting any power after what seemed like 15-18mph. Every time I gave it throttle past this point it would feel like it bogged down a bit and just wasn't getting the juice needed. My dad figured that the coolant wasn't cycling through the block properly due to the thermostat (Which we tested, and it worekd) and decided to take the thermostat out temporarily. This actually seemed to resolve the issue, the fan cooled the motor, circulated fluid properly, and gave us power back, however only up to around 45 mph before it wanted to bog down again. (this caused issues with hills)

Thermostat is good, rad cap is good, restored power back to the front switch where the fan and lights plug in, still fan won't toggle on and off.

I personally have no idea about anything like this and are simply trying to relay the issues for my dad.

About to test the sensor, about to take the rad out. Please advise if you have any suggestions! Everything and all appreciated!

1st problem, Does anyone know where I can find a stock carb for my Timberwolf, I have tried two different aftermarket carbs and they both suck. The machine runs great until it gets good and warm, then it keeps stalling unless I feather the throttle. it will even stall while I'm trying to go from 1st to reverse or vise versa. I took it to a buddy of mine who is a bike mechanic for years, and he told me try to find a factory carb. When I look online from dealers it says "NOT AVAILABLE" anyone have any suggestions ?

2nd, The small tab on the rear axle for towing is to short for even pulling my small yard trailer, I can't even turn a little bit and hit hits. I tried making an extension which worked great as far as length, but it bends the tab and then the extension drags the ground. I have an idea of what to do to fix it, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and see how you solved it.

So I decided to pick up a small trailer if I could get one for the right price.  I found this one for a few hundred bucks on Craig’s list.  It is  a galvanized trailer which is exactly what I was looking for. The wood was shot and needed some minor repairs which I could care less about as long as the chassis was good.
I striped it down and put a new deck on. I had some vinyl realtree graphics that I had laying around so I added them to the fenders which I think worked out well. Very happy with this little guy.
I'm having the iron workers at my jobmake me up a few lightweight side rails that will have a 22 degree bend in them to accommodate the tires that slightly hang over the edge and will incorporate some tie down points as well.
