I have a 2006 Suzuki ltz400. i bought it off some kid upstate and it ran when i tested it at his house. i brought it back to Long Island then it wouldnt start. it doesnt electric start to be more specific. Itll start if i pop the clutch in first gear but it doesnt idle, it dies. only does this when the motor is cold, when the motor is warmed up, itll idle. so i took it apart the i found that it had a blown headgasket. i replaced that and now it still doesnt start. i checked the timimg and its TDC on the bottom and top. now it cranks very strong and the compression is strong but it still wont turn over. its popped a couple times but it doesnt run. i cant seem to figure it out, i need help please.:mad:

is the spark strong? have you tried a new plug? don't replace with the plug that's in it, it might be wrong. make sure it is right one for the bike. ngk has a good chart for atv's ...

yeah i got the manufactor recommanded spark plug. it does have spark.

do you think it's a fuel problem? motor needs fuel, air and spark ... if it's getting good fuel supply, the carb might be somewhat dirty. seafoam is a good fuel additive and it'll save you tearing the carb apart ...

it seems to be getting fuel, air and spark. the carb was also cleaned out. rejetted and carb cleaner.

Hey guys thanks for all the help, it was the valves. The intake valve lash was at 0. I didn't realize how important the adjustment was the valves. I'll give you guys an update when it fix it. I'm waiting on parts now:wink:

My intake valve was really tight. 0 valve lash clearance. I think that's the problem, I'm waiting on the DRZe kit and Ferrera valves then I will replace the old parts. Thanks for the help guys ill give you an update soon

Hi guys, I have a 2004 big bear 400. Last winter while plowing the driveway, I heard a loud pop from the left side of the engine. It continued to run as I looked for leaky fluid, but then died shortly after backing it up and won’t start now. The oil light comes on when I try to start it, no noise or anything else.
No blown fuses that I can find.

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?

I just bought a 1984 Suzuki LT185 ATV and am looking for the OWNER’S manual. ( not a service manual)
I contacted Suzuki Canada but they have no paper or digital copies in their archives.
Does anyone possibly have a digital copy they’d be willing to share?
