1994 Kawasaki KLF400 - Wont Start

fighting this thing for a month now.No spark at plug.

New ignition coil,pick up coil,stator,reg/rectifier,all new wiring.Started it up today rode for an hour shut it off.Tried to start later wont start.pulled plug wire it firing a blue spark while starter button is pressed.Tried new plug no change. It stared a couple times an ran for few seconds then died.Will CDI act this way? The reg/rectifier get pretty hot is this normal?:aargh:

checked valve clearance they are right. A blue spark jumps all over electrode but it is real small.I cant figure out how it was running fine cut it off now it wont start. Bout ready to throw a match on it..

Even though parts are new it doesn't always mean they are good. I suggest you use an ohm meter to check the resistance on the ignition coil primary and secondary and any other parts including switches if all ohms out as good then I would suspect the cdi to be going bad or already gone bad. You really need the repair manual to test all these parts to make sure their in the correct ranges!

Now that I thought about if all these parts are in the correct resistant values and your still getting a spark I would look into whether are not your getting fuel to the cylinder?

      I am unable to find a wiring diagram for this UTV.  When I turn the switch to on, the contractor does not engage.  The Brake pressure switch and the parking brake switches work correctly. What else should I be looking for?  All of the diagrams I have found are for newer models and the wire color coding is different.

      Bought a 88 big bear 350 4x4 took it for a run and lost spark, found it was stator so I replaced that then took it for a long run and it sat for 2 days and no spark again, this time stator tests good on ohms and voltage for source and pick up coils so I started replacing things including regulator, ignition, ignition coil and plug cap, spark plug and everything tests great including all safety switches until the orange wire for ignition coil from the cdi it only reads 3 volts so I replaced the cdi and still 3 volts, any ideas??

      Fixing for a friend. Atv was at a different friends house to be fixed and he rebuilt the carb and had it running nice, then it shut off and no more. He replaced the key and the coil.
       
      So he got busy, so I am helping, I checked the wiring from the stator to the cdi, and from the cdi to the coil. All is good. I checked resistance on the pickup coil, good, and on the source coil, open. I buy a new stator (China) and the 4 prong plug only has 3 wires in it while mine has all 4. I checked resistance in the source coil and it's in the 300's. I pulled one of the old pickup wires out of the old stator and wire it in the new one. Still no spark.
       
      Why do the wires differ, I checked the VIN again and it's "J" for the year and I got a 1988 stator. Please help!

      Hello all, I have a 2006 Polaris Sawtooth with no spark. It has a dead battery but with a jump pack on it, it will still not Spark. Plug is good, Throttle ETC is not closed, Stator pick up coil seems to Ohm out in the correct range, Unsure how to properly check the CDI. And when ignition is on the Neutral and reverse light come on but after cranking just the neutral stays on. 
       
      Any help would be great,

      Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks
