1994 Kawasaki KLF400 - Wont Start

fighting this thing for a month now.No spark at plug.

New ignition coil,pick up coil,stator,reg/rectifier,all new wiring.Started it up today rode for an hour shut it off.Tried to start later wont start.pulled plug wire it firing a blue spark while starter button is pressed.Tried new plug no change. It stared a couple times an ran for few seconds then died.Will CDI act this way? The reg/rectifier get pretty hot is this normal?:aargh:

checked valve clearance they are right. A blue spark jumps all over electrode but it is real small.I cant figure out how it was running fine cut it off now it wont start. Bout ready to throw a match on it..

Even though parts are new it doesn't always mean they are good. I suggest you use an ohm meter to check the resistance on the ignition coil primary and secondary and any other parts including switches if all ohms out as good then I would suspect the cdi to be going bad or already gone bad. You really need the repair manual to test all these parts to make sure their in the correct ranges!

Now that I thought about if all these parts are in the correct resistant values and your still getting a spark I would look into whether are not your getting fuel to the cylinder?

      I was riding my 400ex one day and when i shut it off to put it in the garage i tried to start it put again to drive it into the garge and it wouldnt start.I put a compression tester on it and its like 30 psi with out throttle and 0 psi WITH THROTTLE.
      when i put my finger over the hole it fell likes its pulling my finger in more then its pushing it out 
       
      Has good spark.When i took it into the shop the said it had 1oz of oil in it and a tiny pit of metal shaving(TINY BIT LIKE 30 flakes)
      When i try to pull start (push start/roll start) it made a not normal sound  and wouldnt stay running.
      If my bottom end is blow why would it still turn over fine,
      Are my valves siezed or not working properly 
      or is my timing off causeing valves to not open in correct order with fire 
      PLEASE HELP all help is appreciated

      it wont move when i shift it into gear (H/L/R).... the secondary clutch spins in neutral, put once engaged into gear, the clutch stops spinning and wont go.

      im struggling to find the vin number on my frame? I m told left side of frame , lower, nr. in front of the gear pedal ?? haven't found it yet , is it numbers stamped on the frame or a commission plate ??

      Hey there all,
      First off thanks for the board. My Bayou 220 has survived 3 teenagers and is on its 4th now. Up until  recently it has been a virtual tank....until I decided to fix it;)
      Noticed some smoking from the engine block (not exhaust) so figured it was time for a quick top end rebuild. Now that I have it all back together, it fails to start. I've pulled the starter rope until my arm is tired. 
      So I will be as detailed as possible and hopefully get some help.
      Completed:
      -New Head gasket
      -New Valve seals
      -New piston (standard)
      -New rings (standard)
      -All new seals
      -Cleaned up head and valves (didn't do any resurfacing, as it all cleaned up pretty easy)
      -All torqued to spec
      -Piston ring gaps all checked out
      -Valve clearances (Intake: .18mm, Exhaust .20mm). Not too tight, not too loose.
      Pros:
      -Engine IS making decent compression
      -DO have spark
      -Will fire for a split second if I drop some gas in the spark plug hole and pull start. Will NOT from carb and or intake valve. 

      Timing:
      So I followed the guide of: TDC
      -Flywheel aligns on the “T” mark on the engine site hole
      -Cam gear mark aligned with the cover mark
      Seeing as this is my first time doing a top end rebuild on an ATV. Here are my questions and concerns:
      -I didn't realize (dummy me) that there are 2 TDC's. 1- Compression, 1-Exhaust. 
      How do I know if I'm on the right one?
      -Does the cam need to be aligned a certain way when put back in? I just aligned the cam gear dimple with the cam and put it in. No alignment. 
      Thanks ahead of time. I feel like I'm 90% there, but I'm missing an important step for completion.
