i have a 300 king quad im working on! it was brought to me for a carb cleaning! I have cleaned the carb it was plugged solid above the needle valve, as it was run out of gas. the fuel pump was also plugged and full of rust, so a new pump has been put on. after the carb cleaning it would only run with the choke on and pet cock on pre, now that the pet cock has been repaired and works properly, and I took the carb apart again and went over it. now it wants to flood the cylinder and plug. it also sprays a bit of gas out the intake side. it will start when the plug is dried out and the gas is burnt out of the cylinder, it will not rev out and only runs if you hold the throttle wide open! it has me baffled! also the vacuum at the top of the carb, should it go to the pump or petcock? if anyone has a downloadable manual for this bike it would also help! thanks in advance for an help

I should also mention, it ran great before it ran out of gas

It may not be related, but that particular model is plagued with overheating problems. Most were not sold with the optional cooling fan which should have been standard. I put a fan on mine. Without a fan, the carb was flooding due to overheating......as in boiling in the float bowl.

Well as for the petcock some machines have a vac line to both that and the fuel pump, as is the case with the suzuki quadrunner 250, so make sure the lines are where they are supposed to be, those vac lines being hooked up wrong can cause all kinds of fuel problems.

So the flooding could be alot of different issues, I would start checking the manual against all the new parts to make sure they are identical to what that engine needs. For example: The jets/ needle ports on the carb could be bigger then the engine can handle, or too strong of a fuel pump could cause issues.

Next once all the replaced parts are checked against the manual especially All the carb parts, then i would start with the carb making sure that the float and needle are operating right, alot of flooding problems come from the float parts.

*If carb float internals turn up no problems I would check all the choke parts(cable movement and all parts connected in the carb.) A stuck choke will flood it out and cause the engine to respond to the full throttle like you described. Hope this helps.

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

Have you ever been on the trail and your tire valve goes bad. No way to break down the wheel and replace it. A lot of you probably know about this already i had heard of it but never used one. Just punch out the old one insert and tighten down the nut

I Was Riding By Myself. I was going through a Mud HOLE Either there was a log or a rock, or A Dip but just as I was almost through it, Machine, Rolled over on my right side, as soon as I contacted the ground, I Heard A SNAP! I got up, flipped the Quad back over. I had the wind knocked out of me.
